I understand you, but I think it's false security and nothing more. But that's just easy for to say, when I live here.
Catch-22, I guess.
It is a Catch-22.

I don't WANT to have to own a gun. I don't want to have to tell my son to watch his back every second of every day of his life. Just the thought of my child sooner rather than later being out there in the world just makes me cry.

But I have to protect him and my wife when we are at least in the sanctity of our own home. It's not what I wanted, but I have to. I hope I never have to use it. I hate guns.

It was suppose to say "easy for me to say".

If statistics show that your race is 7 times more likely to kill a person, its quite retarded to resist arrest and act like some dumbshit fool.

These fine gentleman of the law risk their lives each day. I can totally understand they wont take any risks and rather beat you down on precaution then risk getting shot in the chest.

This is sad, but its going to be happening all over. Cops get pushed out and no longer think they can do their jobs properly they will leave. Crime goes up and the fools bitching about the police all the time suddenly don't have any around when they need them.

The stats are astounding to say the least.

Those statistics still don't justify racial profiling. The vast majority of blacks are in no way responsible for what a minority does - just as with cops of course.

Sure. But profiling works both ways. Some black people racially profile white cops, do they not?

I mean of course some subconcious bias will always develop, but it should never be accepted, but fought against.

Also, perhaps the major issues behind the protests that for some reason always gets largely ignored is the fact that the officers responsible for the shooting so often walk away. If those cases got properly handled and the guys responsible apprehended, the outrage would be much much smaller.

Taking guns away from Americans is no longer practical. It's several decades too late. The only thing you can do is make it difficult for idiots to acquire guns. I think for most people like me, living outside of the US where gun related deaths are very rare compared to the US, what's hard to understand is how anyone can be against common sense gun laws.
Also, how's fatherhood treating you? :D

Of course they do, and those murders yesterday are absolutely appaling. But the police should always be held to a higher standard than the poorest members of society, for purely practical reasons alone.

Does that make the cops racist though? That's the argument.
I worked in private security for two years prior to returning to university. I had to do inverventions occasionally in Molenbeek (you know, everyone knows where that is these days).
Its exceptionally simple. You have statistics and they never lie. You base yourself on these statistics and asses the level of risk. and act accordingly.

The racism argument, is completely retarded and disgusting.

At my current job as R&D engineer, alot of my time goes to project management, so i'm seeing a fair bit of risk assesment when it comes down to software/firmware/mechanical/design issues. The higher the risk of defects, or the more serious the consequence, the higher priority it gets.

This is literally done everywhere in the world. Its pure numbers and straightforward.

I agree.

They are. But unless you are a police officer I don't think anyone here really understands how challenging their jobs can be.

Racial profiling is logical when YOUR LIFE is on the line and there is SEVEN TIMES more chance to get killed. You learn to asses risks and act accordingly.

Its logical. If people want to be mad, be fucking mad at those 6.6% that killed more people then 38% whities.

Each time you pull over some black youth in his 20ties you are facing the risk of death.

I doubt anyone here has ever feared for their lives. You dont know what its like.
