Well, I know the BMW's has the more of a sport character and attitude on the road but the interior is too narrow for me and I only recognize the XD engines

Yep, that's basically the main difference; BMWs are real driving machines, driver's cars. Much better steering, handling, more fun. I don't really know about the interior differences, I doubt they are big. About the XD, I love diesels, really do, I drive a diesel now, but all-wheel drive just means a lot of added weight and takes away some feeling in the steering.
