Champions League Group E rivals Shakhtar Donetsk continued their scintillating run of form with a resounding 4-1 Ukrainian Cup victory over rivals Dynamo Kiev last night.
Mircea Lucescu’s men opened the scoring through Adriano after 22 minutes. Kiev soon replied with Taiwo’s equaliser, only for Teixeira to restore the hosts’ advantage by the break.
The success was made safe when Fernandinho and Srna struck late on to guarantee the reigning champions’ safe passage through to the last-sixteen.
The Bianconeri will open their home Champions League account against Shakhtar on Tuesday 2 October.
