Didier Deschamps believes Juventus can pull away at the top after tonight’s promotion showdown with Piacenza.
“All games are important, but the closer we get to the end of the season, the more these points make the difference,” said the Bianconeri boss.
It is a rare Sunday evening kick-off in Serie B and Piacenza were in joint third going into this round, while Juve were leading the table.
“The biggest risk in this match lies with Piacenza, as with their defeat we would really pull away from them and make a decisive step towards our objective to return to Serie A.”
The Garilli outfit had a stuttering start to the campaign, but have improved markedly since a 2-0 home defeat to Juve in Week 5.
“I hope to see the same performance that we put in back then,” continued Deschamps. “Perhaps Piacenza played with a little more reverence and we did well to control our lead, but they have grown in confidence and are fresh from a win over Genoa.
“This is a side with quality and organisation. They are also dangerous from set-pieces and in the air, so I am convinced they’ll challenge until the end for promotion.”
Due to the Champions League commitments changing the top flight schedule, Serie B has been given the Sunday evening slot.
“Does it feel more like a Serie A game? The reality doesn’t change, unfortunately, so Sunday night or not we remain in Serie B!”
