imo zambrotta could be just as good at right back after all he is naturally right footed, and defence of zambo thuram canna and cheillini surely is rock solid, better than having zebina or blasi. as for blasi i will watch the game closely tomorro night he has a tendency to foul stupidly.

i think lazio will hold milan to a 1-1 draw so a juve win in udinese would open a nice gap.

Rotating team.

In the world of football today its absolutely necessary to have world class players at the bench being able to:
A: Rest the men of the starting eleven.
B: Create alternative formations depending on the need/situation.

When we look at the other great teams in Europe like Barca, Chelsea and Milan to mention some, there are some similar factors.

Defense-
Almost never change lineup. They need to know each other and each others positions in the sleep. Here we have a problem with rotating right and center position. It has worked well so far but against the bigger teams?

Midfield-
Some players should and could play every game!
Look at Lampard (Chelsea) for example. He has played for over 110 games in a row. Impressive! To compare to maybe our Viera.
But here we have to have alternatives depending on the game situation. And we should make more changes in my opinion. Like definitely letting Mutu play leftwing or at least let Giannichedda feel the grass from time to time. Blasi (when his not playing defense) is the natural choice when we want to defend a lead. If you look at the other teams they have and they use their alternatives!

Attacking-
Here the tams play with different formations depending on midfield.
Examples:

Chelsea: Plays alternative with Drogba and Crespo. Against deep defenders Crespo is in favor when he’s a better player within the box. Drogba is better with the ball and is more involved in the play. Drogba gets more playtime.

Barca: Always plays with both Ronaldinho and Etoó. They change between Messi, Larsson, Giuly and others. They also often put down Ronaldinho in midfield to get some more offence.

Milan: Plays with Shevchenko and Gilardino. Where Gila is 2nd choice and will rotate with Bobo as 1st sub.

Here we have an excellent opportunity to play with DP or/and Mutu.
And when we need more offense put them down midfield and play with for example Trez and Ibra up front.

My point is that we need more consistence in defense. We need to use our options in midfield and have a clearer striking philosophy instead of just using them in an irregular pattern.

Rotating and resting players is fine, as long as we do it against weak opponents. Look at Milan this weekend; they rested Nesta, etc. and lost important ground in the Scudetto chase. So what can we learn from that? That it is highly risky to rest players against strong teams like Sampdoria, Udinese, Fiorentina, etc.

It's a long season, and if everything goes right we will get to see most of the players in our squad. Including Mutu...

Capello has won titles with all the teams he has coached. So maybe we should have more confidence in him. Afterall he did bring Lo Scudetto by doing the exact same thing as he is doing so far this season.

Se my explanasion "B" in why rotating...
And you shouldn´t "rest" anyone in the defence. They can play alot of games in a way most midfielders and attackers cant.

You should rotate to get a stronger team!
Not the opposit.

I agree with you, buddy. Perhaps I should've been a litte more specific. Like you mentioned in your excellent post it is the strikers and midfielders who should mainly be rested.

Our main rival in Scudetto race is Inter IMO
So let turn sights to Chievo, who should take points from Mancini.

Capello never uses rotation. Looking at Mancini's and Anelotti's mistakes I somitimes think that maybe it's good that Capello is conservative.
And Chealses mistakes?
You have to rotate with a purpose...

I disagree. Milan will continue the race with us, even If they fvcked up in some matches....that goes for Inter aswell.

Agree.
Milan is a great threat, and will always be...
Milan are strong but they will get great problems with defence. take a look:

Maldini 37
Stam 33
Costacurta 39 or 40

only nesta is ok, but he is not in best shape.

I agree about Maldini...
But 33 is no age for an defender (Stam).

Then you have Jankulovski (28), Kaladze (27) and Simic (30).
Costacurta isn´t playing any more...

we have Cannavaro 32 , Thuram almost 34 , Kovac 31 , Pessoto 35
and these are only the defenders that are old

we have also Nedved 33 , Giannichedda 31 , Alex 31
we are pretty old....

I predict a draw,a nasty one.like 3-3 maybe?
No...
I believe we’ll concede one goal.
So anything from 1-1 to 3-1 in our favor.

They are in good form Udinese but also they have great respect for the old lady…

we should start thinking for the future , all the mentioned players will retire in two years

that is right, but we have 3 good Central defenders(I don´t wanna say anything about Gladstone yet) who are on top by now. Milan has only Nesta and Stam, but both are not in good shape. Maldini is still in good form but he surly will not be able to play every match for milan.

it is surly important for us to look at new young defenders for next season.
