I felt like second half was us taking our eye off this game a bit for the Lille game, we thought the game was won. Luckily for us it was and we just did enough.
We definitely went into a bit of rest mode and were happy for them to take the front foot. At this point we just need to bank points so I don't mind. Despite all of that we should've scored at least 1 more but they probably should've had one as well.

I really don't think this game was as disastrous as some are saying, it's never easy to go against Udinese away especially given our recent run of form.
We just need to worry about stringing results together at this point.

Yeah, winning 2-0 and at least a good 45 mins, especially a clean sheet, away from home when our defence has been like a sieve for several games, it's actually more than I expected today. Just take the points and then realise that there needs to be levels of improvement in future.

How many goals we concede when these players are on the pitch:
DEFENDERS:

Savona 1 goal in 699 minutes
Bremer 1 in 636
Gatti 1 in 284
Cambiaso 1 in 101
Kalulu 1 in 100
Cabal 1 in 79
Danilo 1 in 53

MIDFIELDERS:
Koopmeiners 1 in 216
Thuram 1 in 178
Locatelli 1 in 145
Douglas Luiz 1 in 104
Fagioli 1 in 71
McKennie 1 in 65

How many goals we score when these midfielders are on the pitch:
McKennie 1 in 42
Fagioli 1 in 49
Locatelli 1 in 51
Koopmeiners 1 in 54
Douglas Luiz 1 in 62
Thuram 1 in 67

With the midfielders it's tough to make a conclusion. We score the most with McKennie and Fagioli, but we also concede the most with them on the pitch. They are all pretty equal.
But with the defenders there is a clear difference. When we have Danilo and Cabal on the pitch it's open season for our opponents. Savona's numbers are impressive so far.

Basically anyone who has shared the most time with Danilo on the pitch will have skewed stats.

also let's not forget

perin 0 goals conceded
di gregorio 1 in 102 minutes

and not surprising that these stats coincide with what i think should be considered our probable best lineup:

perin
savona bremer gatti cambiaso
locatelli thuram (or mckennie, depending on the opponent)
chico koop yildiz
vlahovic

The reflection between McKennie and Fagioli is really funny. Meaning we need to combine Loca/Thuram - McKennie/Fagioli more instead of the opposite like now

They scored but luckily the goal was immediately disallowed because of foul on Gatti. It's really bad attitude that players think the match is finished in first half.

Summary: a deserved win even if we can play better.
Thuram has moments bursting forward.
Today he did so twice and one ended as a goal.
Locatelli commited a stupid foul but was actually good defensively.
Savona is clearly our best RB.
Koop needs to wake up.
Vlahovic - So many misses - tonight he missed another opportunity and we could have scored way more with a high calibre player.

Perin as a shot stopper is good and so is D.G but D.G is faundemental for us as we use him as a ball playing GK in which he is better than Perin.
Woj for comparision is a better shot stopper but ofcourse not as good at ball playing.
As for the rest - There are statistics and there is what we see.
Locatelli currently seems like a must as he is indeed the best defensive wise but then you have McK D.L Fagioli Thuram who all have their pros and cons.
D.L barely played so even if he has a bad start, its too early to judge. Unless he continues with his mentals...
Fagioli can get the game move but he is quite meh at defending.
Thuram is strong and has his way of affecting a game but he makes some rookie mistakes that can cost us
McK is good going forward and is athletic, plus he isnt bad at defending but sometimes he can really misplace some passes.

At the moment Id pick Thuram and hope he learns and improve his decision making

Savona is clearly our best RB and Cambiasso is indeed meh at defending but he contributes in build up.
Kalulu is currently our best healthy CB.

that was the idea but perin made a few brilliant launches recently

i have a goalie coach friend who wrote me at the middle of the stuttgart game because of a long launch perin made. he was shocked that perin pulled it perfectly. i tried to find it but couldn't after the game. will post in the perin thread if i can find it now. anyway, i'd be happy if di gregorio could do that. and that stuttgart game is one of the best goalie performances i've seen in the last decade anyway. that match alone should guarantee perin a new contract

I always like the young Perin.
