Treviso - Juventus
Stadio Tenni
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Juventus will be confident of a win when they travel to Treviso’s Omobono Tenni Stadium. There can hardly be a more David and Goliath encounter in Serie A this season as top meets bottom. Both teams can be fairly certain of their final position this year even if one will be far happier about that than the other. While La Vecchia Signora is sitting on an eight point lead over second place, the Biancocelesti need to catch a massive 14 point gap to have a chance of staying in the top flight.
However, Treviso could not have asked for a better time to face the Turin giants. Fellow relegation candidates Messina and Parma have both picked up draws against Juve, proving they are not as invulnerable as once thought.
The Biancocelsti’s main problem has been a lack of goals as Walter Baseggio’s strike is the only one they have scored in their last four outings. It may seem like a tall order, especially with Antonio Filippini out through suspension, but the minnows need at least a point here if they are to have any chance of a second Serie A campaign next season.
Juventus will be expecting a win against the Division’s bottom side and will want to erase the memory of Roma’s late equaliser in their last match. That goal reduced their lead at the top to eight points but Juve are still the clear favourites to claim the Scudetto.
The main problem for the Old Lady here will be their crucial upcoming Champions League fixture with Arsenal. After losing the first leg 2-0, the next game is one they must win and that could work against them here. Pavel Nedved is suspended for this match following his red card against Roma and Alessandro Del Piero’s injury will keep him out of this encounter as well.
