Another win for us. Three important points, with an eye on the milan game next week and a moral booster for the Bremen match. I think we approached this game perfectly, especially as a lot of players seemed to be tired. Keeping it tight, cool calm play, concentrated aggresive football. Away to Samp, is where the other big teams have all dropped points, teams like Sampdoria play with 200% effort against the giants, especially against juve. Our team might've looked a little defensive, but it was the right away to approach a game such as this. .
A win for Novellino would've given Sampdoria something to cheer about in their anonymous season, especially compared to their last season. A cold performance by us, left Sampdoria after a lot of hard work eating dust though. There were a lot of positives for me in this game.

In the first half, Sampdoria started out with a few dangerous attacks. With Volpi's freekick against the bar, being the most dangerous attack. The defence did not flinch though and slowly but surely our team started to dominate Samp. We had the better play late in the first half, but couldn't find the goal.

Second half we continued where we left of, we played the ball around coolly and slowly pressurised Sampdoria. We weren't all to dangerous in attack, but we surely were the boss on the pitch. With the attackers working their asses off and the defence being every so concentrated and almost faultless. It wasn't really a game of free flowing football, it was all about guts and hardfought duels. We came out victorious out of those duels with bulldogs and winners such as Nedved and Camoranesi in our team, who are few of the many winners we have. Nedved's hardwork and positive performance was awarded by the winning goal, when he headed in a freekick. Looked like an easy header, but it was a good coordinated run by Nedved. The goal made it all the more easier for us. Samp who were busy all match trying to soak in our efforts, had to go all out for a win. Which they were unable to do, they barely threatened our goal and we calmly played the 90 minutes to an end. Bravo.

Player ratings, of the starters:

Buffon: Had nothing to do, stopped what he had to. Looked a little off with a cross early in the game and was way off at Volpi's freekick. 6

Ethan Hawke: Had to adapt to a rightback role. Did not seem to entirely suit him as he continuesly had to turn back to his left leg and he was also a little nervous and sloppy at times. Worked hard though and was involved both in attack and defence. His attacking efficiency was limited though, because of him turning back to the right constantly. This guy is way better on the left, nowadays in any case. 5.5

Kovac: Great performance. That's all there is to say. 7

Cannavaro: Ditto. 7

Zambrotta: Good to see him back, adds so much to the balance of our team. Did ever so well in defence and helped support the attack at times. He didn't play all too offensively, but he distributed the ball well forwards and when he attacked; he did well. 6.5

Emerson: Up and down performance. Had some terrific moments, mixed with the downright sloppy and wastefull. 6

Vieira: Thought he did pretty well. Good overall performance. Was involved in attack, with his short passing and a wall in defensive midfield 6.5

Mutu: Not his best day. Many argue he is much better as foward, and I agree. Though I love how has transformed from the once cocky selfish forward to a ball strong teamplaying midfielder, he reminds me of Nedved. Always usefull, despite playing an average match. 5.5

Nedved: Scored the winning goal worked really hard. Many have critisized Nedved this season, me included, but I return to an old statement of mine; the team seems to perform better with Nedved's presence. Especially as he actually does seem to have found a little form finally. He worked his ass off and had some good moves and combinations, especially with Del Piero. 7

Del Piero: Worked very hard as well, and made some good moves. In form players are untiresome, and Del Piero proved that today. Won as a lot of freekicks (though the ref seemed to be on DP's side) and played like a captain out there. 6.5

Zalayeta: Well, can't really blame him for an average performance. Was the first time this season he started a game in serie A. 5

That was that. Any comments?

juve played well in the midfield, we were passing nicely, we just couldn't get it done in the attacking 3rd. with ibra and trezegol back, we will be more creative and finish more opportunities upfront. defensively we were solid, especially balzaretti. he did a very good job on the right.

I'm not too impressed...

IF we play this way against Bremen (and CRAP knows no other way), then we might as well congratulate them now, because THEY will be advancing to the next round of the CL, and not us !!

Samp is not the offensive machine that Bremen is, and its all well and good that we kept the cleansheet, I dont expect as much come tuesday.

Samp gave us all sorts of problems out there, and if not for Neddy, we would not have won this game.

I've said it all season, NEDVED IS NOT A WINGER !!! He plays better in the trequartista role, and everytime he gets into the center of the field, he is a dangerous man. He had a few good chances besides the goal...and thats when he drifts to the center

MUTU IS ALSO NOT A WINGER !!! He is a striker, and is being wasted on the wing. He cant cross the ball...all he is doing is taking shots from out near the right sideline some 30-35 yards out, and hoping to score...not even Henry can score from there !!

ZALAYETA IS NOT A PLAYER !! He is as useless as a ripped condom !!! This guy, who the commentators call a "physical presence" has all the strength of an 8 year old girl !! I cant decide who's more useless, Zala or Blasi...

CAP IS TOTAL AND UTTER CRAP !!! After being tortured by watching a punchless Zala in the first half, I was literally screaming at the television set for Camo to replace Zala, and move Mutu up to striker, to help DP. When I saw Camo warming up, and ready to come on I thought "can CRAP ACTUALLY have gotten it right for a change ??"

NO !!! NO, NO, NO !!! What does CRAP do ?? He puts Camo in the center of the midfield, slight ahead of Emo and Vieira, and keeps Mutu on the right...WHAT THE FUCK !!!! Now, you have not 1, not 2, but 3 FUCKING PLAYERS PLAYING OUT OF POSITION !!!!!:wth: :wth: :ferocious :ferocious

Common sense would have told any idiot on the street to put Camo on the right, and put Mutu up top. Its no wonder that we struggled offensively, with DP as our only striker today.

Buffon: 6

Balzaretti: not impressed..put Zebina in 5.5

Kovac: a decent sub 6

Cannavaro: soild all the time 7

Zamrbotta: first game back, did fine, but I missed his runs 6

Mutu: doesnt belong on the wing..see above 5.5

Emerson: solid 6.5

Vieira: getting sloppy again 5.5

Nedved: doesnt belong on the wing, only can be complimented when he gets into the center 6

Zalayeta: worthless 3

Del Piero: cant be expected to work alone..but worked hard anyways 6

Sub:
Camoranesi: played out of his natural position, but no errors 6

With the tactics that CRAP uses, we cannot expect to be so lucky, and score late every time...and our luck runs out tuesday:ferocious

my ratings......

Buffon-nothing he could do about fantastic freekick that hit the post, one fumble but nothing much to do.6

Kovac-very physical, strong, did well against samp's lively attackers 7

Cannavaro-never put a foot wrong, great early intervention 7

Zambrotta-never got forward as often as usual but good defensively, great that he's back.6

Balzaretti-Out of position, very left footed, can't change to his favoured side as well as Zambrotta, shows promise though.6

Mutu- average game by mutu, too much time on the ball, would liked to have seen him go up top when camo came on but as vinman says Cap doesn't see these possibilites! 6

Nedved- very industrious, nice interplay at times and a great headed winner. 8

Vieira- not impressed by his recent form, caught in possession a few times, not the electrifying force he was at arsenal. 6

Emerson- when he's on the ball it's like 'bullet time' in the matrix, everything goes slow-mo! tidy though and strong 7

Zalayeta-suffered for getting no playing time this season, deserves a place elsewhere 5

Del Piero- was a little weak at times, nice turn and shot but got no power behind it, combined well with neddy at times but a little tired I think, still a good shift though 7

Camo- very lively, will def start versus bremen 6
