before 2006 i think: from wikipedia:

Before the 2005-06 season, if two or more teams were tied in points for first place, for only one spot in a European tournament or in relegation zone, this teams would play tie-breaking games after the league's end, to determine which team would get the best place (useful to be champion, to be awarder a European tournament sport, or to be saved). From 2005-06 season, if two or more teams end the league with the same number of points, the deciding tie-breakers used are (in order):

Head-to-head records;
Goal difference of head-to-head records;
Goal difference of league;
Most goals for in league;
Draw.

Reminds me a little bit of the 1-1 draw with Napoli (away from home) in the 12/13 season. A good result for us, but would have been much nicer having won all three points. We bizarrely let Roma terrorise us for 20 mins with a man less.
They took 2 players who couldn't run out (Totti and de Rossi) and put in players who consistently took advantage of our tired and old left flank of Evra and Chiellini. It was bound to happen they were playing for their season. Shame Evra didn't get subbed for Pado.

That's what I said. So we have 4 points to 1 on the H2H, thus the advantage.

At 1-0 up of course there was going to be a good chance for Roma to get back into the game with Garcia throwing in the kitchen sink. Personally Roma could have grabbed the win so I'm glad we got out with a point.

As far as I'm concerned Roma blew their biggest chance, Juve killed the game in the first half, we were perfect.

All we had to to was remain calm and maintain our shape. We lost our way completely and can be considered lucky not to have lost. Iturbe and Gervinho were just strolling into the box on every occasion.

And yet we gave them confidence to go all out on us.
...and get a draw? I don't see the big problem, they hardly celebrated at the end, all this game did for them was get suspensions for the next match plus the knock to morale that their only direct 6 pointer has gone.

When Garcia changed his game plan, Allegri should have reacted accordingly. Manolas was the MOM, by quite a margin.
Perfectly put, I cant help but be more disappointed with Allegri, this was ours to take oh and manolas had morata in his pocket all night. Frustrating and we cant carry on like this.

Chiellini had a good game up until Totti went off as he could get tight. As soon as Iturbe and Gervinho went up top, Chiellini shat his pants, sat deep, fucked up and looked nervous as fuck.

:agree:

Had the extra man and the lead, we should have passed it around them and forced them to chase us for the ball.

I do wish Allegri doesn't wait so long to make his first substitution. As soon as Roma got the red, we should have put in another attacking player.
:tup:
He was being reactive rather than pro-active and that cost us what would've been a fairly comfortable win.
Not a bad result but could've done much better.

Against Cesena this point is valid but against Roma no, you have to give them credit for the quality of players they have, and the situation they were in they HAD to go for broke.
