Ranieri: “A shame not to be there”
In the many years of a distinguished career - first as player then as Manager -, Claudio Ranieri thought he'd seen it all; and yet, two novelties in the space of just one day. First a press conference in front of a real Andy Warhol piece (a portrait of the Avvocato Agnelli), part of the exhibition celebrating Juventus' 110 years, at the Palazzo Bricherasio in Turin. Then the prospect of a game, Saturday night in Naples, to watch from the stands, due to his suspension gathered after being sent off against Genoa.
Yes, because this suspension is an absolute novelty for the Rome-born Manager. It's a shame he'll have to miss the game at the San Paolo, of all places, as he had a successful stint there around fifteen years ago. “It'll certainly be different – he commented -, I'm used to following the match from the sidelines. I tried it once in England, where the Managers often do their job from the stands, but I could only resist for 45 minutes. I'm really sorry not to be there, I did wrong and I have to pay for it”.
Without Ranieri on the bench, Juventus are getting ready to face a Napoli team who'll want to confirm the good things they’ve been doing in the first part of the season. “We're aware we'll face a great team – the Manager continued -, they come from the exploit in Rome and they'll have the whole Stadium behind them. They have good players who find each other from memory. They bought two excellent players in Lavezzi and Hamsik and our former players Blasi and Zalayeta are also doing well. They are a team that can play in two different gears, they know how to keep possession and when they want they quickly go forward. We'll have to play well and reply to their every move”.
Napoli are growing, but Juventus want to keep on the right track. Outside the team, all thoughts are concentrated on the big match against Inter Milan, to be played on November 4; the players themselves however are focusing on one game at a time. Ranieri added: “The match against the Nerazzurri is worth three points, just like the ones against Napoli and Empoli. The players are in good shape, everybody is 100%. Iaquinta is back and Camoranesi and Marchionni are also starting to get back into the frame. Del Piero? I saw him very motivated this week; these are special days for him. Palladino? I'm very pleased with him, when I've put him on he's always done what I asked him to”.
