Ancelotti selects ‘strongest’ Milan Wednesday 26 October, 2005

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Milan boss Carlo Ancelotti has conceded that he will select the best team possible to face in-form Empoli this evening.

Although the Rossoneri entertain leaders Juventus on Saturday, their injury problems mean that the Coach hasn’t the luxury of resting key players ahead of the San Siro showdown.

"We need to make sure that Juventus don’t extend their lead over us before the match at the weekend," he stated. "Therefore I will pick my strongest side possible.

"We are up against a team who is doing very well right now and a striker in Francesco Tavano who is one of the most dangerous in the Division."

Ancelotti is set to be without Paolo Maldini, Alessandro Nesta, Massimo Ambrosini and star striker Andriy Shevchenko.

"Christian Vieri and Alberto Gilardino will play in attack," added the tactician. "They are improving all of the time, let’s hope both can score."

The Ukrainian international is missing because of an ankle problem and Ancelotti admits he’s unsure whether he will be fit enough to face Juve.

"It will be tough for him but we can only really think about it on Thursday," explained the Coach.

"As for Nesta, he is feeling good again even if we won’t know whether he will be available until he has a few tests carried out on Wednesday."

Dario Simic is expected to come into the defence this evening, with Serginho or Marek Jankulovski being handed the left-back jersey.

Milan probable: Dida; Serginho, Simic, Costacurta, Cafu; Seedorf, Pirlo, Gattuso; Kaka; Vieri, Gilardino.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I know its a bit early, and we still have Sampdoria, but its interesting that Ancelotti is fielding the best available, and resting none for TODAY.

who can he rest maybe rui costa for pirlo and inzaghi for gila.

jakulovski surly will play, as i doubt serginho simic and costacurta and even cafu who is good going forward are not the best defenders, if empoli are brave and dida doesnt not play outstanding then their could be a nice shock here

I hope to see this formation...

    Chimenti

    Zambrotta-Thuram-Canna-Chiellini

    Camoranesi-Emerson-Vieria-Mutu

    Zlatan-Trezeguet

I really hope Vieria is ready !

Here is what I would run against Milan:

    Chimenti

    Zambrotta - Kovac(Thuram) - Cannavaro - Chiellini

    Camoranesi - Emerson - Vieira

Del Piero - Trezeguet - Mutu

Of course Capello will field what he wants to, however I have other ideas..
You express your ideas about the team quite vividly Andy, and I agree on most of them. And I most definattly agree that Zlatan is not up to par lately. And other players on the bench are more deserving...If Zlatan sits out a couple, and feels threaten he wont be such a prick!

Got a dodgy feeling bout abbiati playing this one. DP will start i think after his brilliant display last season at the san siro which virtually gave us the title!

Either way i dont care as long as we extend our lead over milan.

I have a feeling that we will win.
    me too...

My starting 11 will be just like Andy's one. I'll play a Trio...with Mutu taking Nedved's Place.....

I heard Pirlo picked up an Injury...any news about this?

how can u ignore Nedved ?

this is the probable thing :

    -----------Abiatti------------
    Blasi--Cann--Thura--Zamb
    -------Gianni--Emers--------
    Camo------------------Nedve
    ---------Trez---Ibra----------

I prefer to see Chiellieni on the left and zambo on the right, and i would like Mutu instead of Camo, and Chimenti instead of Abiatti, and i would like to see Alex in the 2nd half...

Edit : of course i prefer Vieira if he recovers before the game...
