Why this 3-5-2 I don't understand...
Because it stifles Milan's channels through the middle and the 3 CB's go up 1v1 vs the strikers and the spare man tracks the trequartista in Allegri's system, flooding the midfield with able/physical/fit players is the way to stop Milan under Allegri.

I guess that makes sense, but still - I wish we had four set defenders. Is Lichtsteiner out of this match? Or his he playing on the right flank and Pepe on the left?

Buffon
Barzagli - Bonucci - Chiellini
Lichtsteiner - Vidal - Pirlo - Marchisio - Pepe
Matri - Vucinic

Another advantage of this is exactly that... Lichtsteiner can drop to RB and Chiellini LB whilst Pepe/Vucinic/Matri can become wing forwards allowing Marchisio/Vidal to make runs through the middle off the two forwards' hold up play, it's not as one-dimensional like Milan's 4-3-1-2.

It's funny how the guys reacted to your post. As if the match is played tonight and what you said is the official line-up :D
:D

It's the most realistic though. I can't see Conte bench Matri twice in a row, being he is our topscorer. What kind of fucked up message does that send out?

Can't drop Mirko because he can change the match at any time.

Zlatan must be thanking all the Gods that his ban wasn't reduced. It mustn't feel good for him to get physically owned by Giorgio at his own home.

I think the 3-5-2 gives Conte a lot of flexibility. With Lichsteiner dropping back, it can easily turn into a 4 defence tactic. Can turn into 4-3-3 with Pepe playing up high, or even 4-4-2/4-2-4 with Pepe and Marchisio on the wings.
