Yesterday, when Dominic and Andy were talking about Grygera-Molinaro, i had a reply ready and now i'm sorry i didn't post it because now it looks like my post is influenced by today's performance of Molinaro.
I wrote " Yes Dom, Grygera is indeed a boring player. You just can't expect even a single special thing from him during the season. You can't expect any improvements. This is what he has, he can't offer more nor less than this.
Molinaro on the other side...... he's not a talented footballer but he does have the wish to do better every next day and next match. You can see he plays with passion and heart. He runs like a mad man.
He played in Salernitana and Siena. He didn't have good mentors, good coaches like he does in Juve. Ranieri didn't buy him just like that. He saw that the kid gives 100% in every match and that with a good mentor he will get better and better. Work on his crosses, work on tactics with him and with his work rate and will to do better and to improve i guarantee you we'll get a very good player.
Gattuso and Di Livio were exactly like Molinaro. But they spent many hours more than their collegues in trainings, trying to improve their game. That's what Molinaro's doing i think. Give him time and you'll be pleased we have him"

was he already ours (loan spell) or did we buy him in summer (how much) ?
Molinaro started his career at Salernitana. When Salernitana got relegated in 2005, he was signed by Juventus F.C., who immediately loaned him to A.C. Siena, along with half of the player's rights, until the summer 2007. At the end of the loan, Molinaro returned to Turin.

we signed Molinaro for 2,5 million euros for Siena for half his contract, as he was on a co-ownership between the two clubs.

I didn't watch the game. Did we play lousy?

That Nedved's goal at '86 saved our necks this time! :juve1: I hope our game starts improving, given that Inter just smashed Torino with ease.

Roma drew, which was nice for us.

to say the truth, we dominated the whole match, especially in the first half. If we had won 3-0 i don't think it would have been harsh, considering possession and chances

Molinaro always showed a spark . To me , I always prefered him over anyone else we had as rightback . You could obviously see he was better than Grygera .
He was having many bad games and that's why people criticised him . He was however , being played played regularly by Ranieri which means Ranieri saw something we didn't , maybe he was outstanding during training etc...

I think this guy is continuing to improve game after game , this is his best performance so far . He might have a bright future afterall .

Here's my summary for this game.

First half: Terrible If you ask me, none of our players except maybe two [Pavel, Zanetti] managed to pass the ball well and keep control. I didn't like the formation that was started, the tactics we were playing. It was pretty obvious that our first half was going to end in a draw. We created couple of chances and didn't use them in the right way.

2nd half: Good thing Ranieri realized that playing Palladino on the left side is a horrible thing to do, but I'm not sure If subs Iaquinta was a good move, since we really needed to keep pressure on them and attack. 2nd half looked much better with Del Piero on the field who outplayed Atalanta players like toys.

Buffon 6.5 [was tested like couple of times only, one thing Gigi should do is hurry up and not start giving instructions when it's not a goal kick and the ball is between his hands, just pass the ball and let the players run on counter attack]

Zebina 6 [I would have given him more had he not reacted that way shooting the ball, he looked decent but shaky at times]

Legro 5 [Terrible passes on times, terrible marking, he doesn't deserve more, I hope a better performance by him against Lazio]

Chiellini 7 [Solid like usually, the man is developing day by day... almost no mistake in this game, Bravo Patriot]

Molinaro 6 [Members know I criticize him alot, but he was pretty impressive today, the best thing in him is that he runs pretty fast, more like Iaquinta when needed...though he should still enter a school for his passes and crosses]

Nocerino 6 [I would want o give him more TBH, but his passes are just terrible, he reminds me of Edgar alot, he's never tired, he runs alot and ruins opponents counter attacks, but he can't pass correctly ffs]

Zanetti 7 [I love Zanetti, a player you can really depend on, perfect passes, perfect stamina, everything is just good in this man]

Palladino 4.5 [ I've never seen such a terrible performance, seriously, even Criscito in his bad days can do better, Palladino tries to dribble alot, he didn't even pass one correct single ball....Some people just tried to convince me that he's good in that position, well guess what, he's TERRIBLE]

Nedved 7.5 [What age people talk about? three words for this legend, LONG LIVE PAVEL]

Del Piero 7.5/7 [Like Pavel, people see them as an aged players and can't performe due to his age, well, whoever will repeat that sentence will be asked to SOAP IT... Il Capitano just like we know him, dribbling past players, taking great freekicks, passing well, adding strength and depth to this team, Bravo CAPITANO]

Iaquinta 5 [Tried alot, unlucky, I hope he performes better next time]

Trezeguet 5 [Bad finishing, but you can't always expect from him to score in every single game, he'll score next time]

Marco 4.5 [TERRIBLE, just like Palladino]

Tiago NR

Ranieri

1- Never play Palladino in that position.

2- If Camoranesi is missing, start BOTH Del Piero and Iaquinta, have some balls ffs.

3- Tactics should be changed If you want to continue winning.

:agree: i am totally agree with you, and when he changed both palla and laquinta in the half time was a mistake he should kept one of them we could have won the match with not only 1 goal but 3 or maybe 4 goals.....they didnt attack much match but only we needed 1 more ST....that was my point...tell me if i am wrong.

Buffon: Not to busy, dealt with some difficult crosses and a good early save to deny atalanta. always ready with quick throws to keep juve on the attack late on. 6.5

Zebina: i was thinking that he had improved a lot passed the ball a lot simpler and did not squader possession like usual. great athlete strong and fast pity he has no intelligence twice got caught on the ball near his own box. no matter how well he is playing still likly for one or 2 mistakes that are needless. 6

legro: stong in the air and actually quite quick for a CB. made himself available to buffon for quick throw outs and often the start of our attack with sharp quick passing into zannetti and nocerio. i was impressed with him today hope he keeps up this form 6.5

chiellini: strong and dominant as usual got caught stupidly on the ball and allowed atalanta a dangerous break. forming a good partnership with legro and very consistant.6.5

molinaro: put his heart into it today made great support runs for his team mates down the left sprinting to make up 60 metres to get into dangerous positions and he has obviously worked on his crossing in training. hope he continues to play to this level. 6.5

palladino: played out of position on the right has great footwork and skill but dreadfully overhit all his crosses. he is suffering from a lack of confidence as in the situations where his crosses were poor if he believed in himself he could of took the ball on himself and into the box using his speed but he opted for early deliveries. half time substitution will not help his morale . only with more playing time and experience will he fullfill his potential.5

zanetti: the unsung hero of this side extremly intelligent positioning and a better passer of the ball than many give him credit for. he held the centre superbly allowing nocerion to cover every blade of grass secure in the knowledge that zannetti had the centre covered.6.5

nocerino: immense fitness and another all action display showed a bit more offensivly today and forms a solid pairing with zanetti but juve still lack that spark of creativity in the centre. nocerino also helped out his centre backs through one or 2 dangerous moments.7

nedved: playing extremly well of late after difficult start to season seems to have found the right motivation and love for the game again faded out a little around the 70 minute mark only to pop up with a great strike after determination won him the ball. played well but this is the kind of performance i would expect from him every week. 7

Trez: he has added a good bit more work rate to his game this season and reaped the rewards this season so far. he had about four 1/2 chances . but at least he continued to work hard to get in the scoring positions and never let his head drop. some days that little bit of luck does not happen for you. but always looked dangerous. and i think a certainty to find the target against lazio. 6

iaquinta. worked hard but never really got himself into many dangerous positions. i thought ranieri might have switched him and palladino for 5 or 10 minutes to see how that worked out. he will have a vital role to play over the season and will have far better days. 5.5

subs

Del Piero. brought a bit more creativity to the juve attack some nice touches passes and free kicks. lacks the speedy break that combined with his skills made him so dangerous. linked well with trez neddy and molinaro. slowed down the attacks nedlessly sometimes when he is capable of deadly crosses with trez lurking inside. played well and pushing palla and iaquinta for starting role next week.competition for places breaths success 6.25

marchionni: showed some great pace but no awareness to his surroundings either team mates or opposition some very poor lack of concentration led to promising attacks breaking down. frustrating like palla as the both have the potental for so much more. 5

ranieri: atalanta are in the top 6 and this was always going to be tough. we looked well organised but still need to get more from our creative players like palladino. while most players played well and we looked comfortable we did not create many clear cut chances or work their keeper enough. i would have like him to switch palladino and iaquinta to see if they could have improved in the second half with palla playing off trez and iaquinta working tirelessly on the wing. but a least he was brave enough to make athe changes. lucky that nedved secured the point with his individual effort when the 0-0 draw looked likely. though although zanetti played excellent he would have switched him for tiago with 15 mins to go to push for the victory and give tiago a chance. but i think he has done an excellent job and i would not critiscise him as he sees the players every day. molinaro performance reflected that as you know molinaro worked hard in training all week working on his crossing etc. can the same be said for tiago or is he putting in little effort in training just like he did v empoli. 6.5

we need camo back.when he is out maybe try iaquinta on the wing and DP or palla besides trez. i think ranieri is right to leave giovinco to play regularly at empoli as it will improve him in the long run.

another piss-poor performance...if it wasn't for Ale in the 2nd half I doubt we would have managed a single shot on goal....credit to Pavel for a majestic finish....and it wasn't like Atalanta were extremely solid defensively either....there was just no attacking spark anywhere esp in the 1st half...i repeat again Iaquinta-Trez will not work against the better teams...there was an instant communcation between Ale and Trez, which was magnificent to watch....MOTM would be Del Piero, totally changed the game

channel 5 commentator said when we signed the other half of criscito contract from genoa we sold them half of nocerino's contract. is this true?

also inters opening and decisive goal from the penalty spot was never a peno after that toros spirit was broken

Tiago came on so that Nedved could get the standing ovation he deserved.
He could brought Olivera instead or Almirion

Beh, it looks like we change our minds too quickly. One day Del Piero must be a super sub and the other day it's Iaquinta :)

Ranieri is doing well, imo. The one who plays better should get the starting place next to Trez.
So far it was Iaquinta now it's Del Piero. I believe Ranieri will do exactly that and we'll see Trez-DP partnership at Olimpico on Saturday
I've said what I saw, and I'm still supporting idea of using Alex as Arsenal used Bergkamp, ofcourse not yet. And I tottaly agree that we should play the one who is better and in last two games Iaquinta wasn't impessive so Alex should start next game IMO. Even in case when we can't count on Camo I would put Iaquinta on the right.

Just how many times did Nocerino win us back possession ?
What Vieira and Emerson together were doing perfectly, Nocerino is doing by himself.
I love this kind of players who can't stop running for 90 minutes.

Tough choice with Nedved and Molinaro also having a very good match but my MOM is Nocerino.

Btw, this was our 3rd in a row serie A clean sheet. And we played 3 of the better teams in the league, Palermo, Milan and Atalanta ;)
I think that for the clean sheet we can also thank to Nocerino and Zanetti cuz they are closing space so our defenders aren't that much exposed nad that's the one of the reasons I agree that we shouldn't change Zanetti and/or Nocerino.

A match with Mlinaro as the best??

Thanks God I didn't watch that.

No, you are wrong, most of the players played better than they usually do..
Are we watched the same game?? Cuz I didn't seen nothing spectacular. I agree we had good chances but form 70th minute we looked more and more clueless in way to score a goal. Only thanks to Pavel's great goal we won, but in overeall we looked poor IMO.

I must admit that I was first one who bashed Molinaro after Milan game and I still stand behind that statement. But I must agree with you Alen how Molinaro is hard working player, he never stop running and he is fighting for every ball. He is good defensive, but when he have the ball for most of the time he looks clueless he just don't know what do to, so he start dribbling or runnin and eventually loose the ball. If he could improve that aspect of the game he would be great.
