Capello: “A very positive year”
“Siena is a team that, lately, did well away from home, better than within its friendly walls. It has to be respected, like all the opponents we face”. Fabio Capello analyses the next game and points out right the way how the main problem for his team could come from Enrico Chiesa’s plays: “He is very skilled on placed kicks, from the flag and when he can kick towards the goal, he always focuses well. His percentage of realization shows how dangerous a forward like him can be”. In the last challenge of the year, Juventus wants to come back winning, after its draw at the Olimpico: “Saturday night against Lazio, for the initial 25 minutes, we were not the usual team. Afterwards we got better, creating five goal-balls. Also, Lazio’s goal was a gift from us and it doesn’t seem to me that Abbiati had to make great saves. I would thus say that even during a day not too happy as far as results persistence, we showed nice things”.
The first Juventus draw in the championship seems to have relaunched the ambitions of the chasing teams: “I am glad that everyone is convinced of having passed us already – Capello jokes – I actually believe that our situation is better than the others, as we have multiple points of advantage. We are happy and convinced of our possibility of doing well, both physically and technically. Frankly, at the beginning of the season, we did not believe we could get to this point with such a gap. The other teams are coping well in the championship, but we are doing great”. If we had to make a balance of this past year, mister Capello should be satisfied: “It was a very positive year, we won the championship and we are now heading the league, which worries me a little: when everything is going so well, you have to be very careful to keep up at the same level. We want to be able to do it. I do not expect drops in the performances: it is a particular season, we play a lot and there are no breaks. It is a new thing for everybody, but we are sure of having had a great preparation and to be able to keep up at our pace”.
