Rather pathetic first half performance. We did not really create many chances and Trezeguet scored a goal for us in which Samp will be kicking themselves for giving up...really was a poor and ugly that Trezeguet just slammed home. After the goal Samp started to take chances and actually they started to outplay us a bit, and they should probably be level with us as our first half performance does not really warrant a lead. Absolutely no ideas through midfield, however Samp was packed tighly in their own zone so it will always be difficult to create with our side.
Del Piero, Emerson, and Kovac have all played well thus far, however Cannavaro, Chiellini, and Nedved have not looked enirely sharp. Giannichedda as usual is just taking up crucial space in midfield and letting everybody else do something with the ball. Del Piero, though, looks like he was ready to play today and that's good to see.
Samp certainly caused us problems, as I expected. This match was never going to be a breeze and they could level in the second 45...wouldn't be surrpised at all with the way we have been playing lately. No aspects of our team look very sharp at the moment and it might cost us later in the match.
