But Grosso played all tournament, won the penalty to get past Australia, scored the key goal to beat Germany, and scored the clinching penalty in the World Cup final shootout. So as far as 2006 goes, credit where it is due to Grosso. In 2011, it's irrelevant.
I must say, though, the protagonist of the final was definitely Materazzi. He gave away the penalty for France's opening goal, scored the equaliser, got headbutted by Zidane and scored in the penalty shootout.

How do you explain the drop in form of Krasic and Aquilani that came at the same time as Quagliarella's injury?
As regards Krasic, I believe the fact that he hasn't had a break for quite some time is more of a factor than Quag's injury. Having said that, I also believe that had Quag been there it might have eased the load on Krasic's shoulders, no doubt. As for Aquilani, I believe it's mere coincidence that his dip in form came about the same time as Quag's injury. Aquilani is not renowned for his consistency, and his inconsistent and varied performances have been a trademark throughout his career. Essentially, Quag might have won us 5-6 more points, but we may have also dropped points in other games. Moreover, had Quag not been injured, would we have gotten Matri, who single-handedly won us a couple of games on his own? Hence, that is why I believe events even themselves out over the course of an entire season, and we are where we deserve to be now.

I think Quagliarella's off the ball movement brought the best out of Krasic and with two dynamic players up front made Aquilani's job easier in sending balls. Quagliarella might not be the best of players, regardless of history or his form with Juventus but the player is technically gifted and his absence not only hurt us in the goal scoring department but in the movement in midfield.

I agree that the defence was not something to be proud of but all of a sudden we lost a big factor we had in forward that affected the midfield at the same time. Melo's suspension added also to the midfield problems and all that happened with a shaky defence and a limited coach.
Yep, agree.

Quag might not be WC but he did open up new doors for our team and scored goals as well. They guy gave our midfield another target man and our opposition always knew Quag was a threat so they had 2 guys to watch out for. When he got hurt, all attention when to Krasic to shut him down. And it worked for a while.

We were in excellent form when Quag got hurt. That changed our entire dynamic and how we played and more importantly how teams played us. I don't buy that last comment completely. Though, partially agree because we have choked some times yes, but we would be in a different position in this table if it wasn't a result of injuries.

De Ceglie was hitting form and Quag was already in form. Our entire left side went limp. And that made us tactically limited.

I agree. I don't think his efforts were wholly appreciated, as he actually proved to be a very good passer as well, and he worked hard pressurising the opposition in defense. See his goal against Milan and Catania for evidence of that.

I think Quag played some part in that, but it wasn't the major factor. Serie A defenses simply started to double team Krasic and we didn't have any attacking threat on the opposite flank. It's very similar to the previous year with Diego.

With regards to Quag, I didn't really notice this work rate in opening up defenses as much as other people. He did offer movement, but it's not like he was Tevez or something. His main contribution was his finishing skills, not his ability to open up defenses.

As for Aqui, I have no idea what his problem is.

Here are the most likely to be the formations for the game this evening...

Juventus (4-4-2): Buffon; Motta, Barzagli, Chiellini, Grosso; Krasic,Aquilani, Marchisio,Pepe; Matri, Del Piero.
A disp.: Storari,Bonucci,Sorensen Traoré, Salihamidzic, Giandonato,Toni

Chievo(5-3-2): Sorrentino; Sardo, Cesar, Andreolli, Mantovani,Jokic; Gelson Fernandes, Rigoni, Constant;Pellissier,Trereau.

Here are at least 3 livestreams for today's game, Juventus Chievo

My Big concern like always is playing with Il Principino and Alberto in the middle and not being able to get back the ball quicly because neither of them have Strong defensive aptitudes ..

That being said ... Sempre e Comuque Forza Juventus!
