Thanks to a goal by Trezeguet and Domizzi’s own-goal, Capello’s side beats Brescia 2-0 and strengthens their lead of the table, which now sees Milan 5 points down after their defeat in Livorno.
Bianconeri in attack from the very first minute when Trezeguet, face to face with Castellazzi, nearly scores with a shot slightly wide of the post. The Frenchman finds the target after 12 minutes: served by Ibrahimovic with a precise cross shot from the right wing, Trezegoal kicks in from an excellent position (1-0). Brescia answer back after 19 minutes with Caracciolo forcing Buffon to a difficult save. Capello’s squad creates other occasions first with Ibrahimovic (22’) and then with Nedved (23’): both powerful finishes end wide of the post. The 2-0 goal comes after 43 minutes: a great action by Ibrahimovic who moves to the left wing, forwards into the box and kicks a ball which Domizzi, in the attempt of anticipating Trezeguet, taps it into his own net.
The second half is virtually played in front of only one net. Ibrahimovic, Camoranesi, Nedved and Olivera, who replaced Emerson, try to worry Castellazzi with shots from the distance. After 22 minutes, Birindelli, who substituted Pessotto after the break, shoots a dangerous free kick. Brescia become dangerous after 16 minutes when Mannini plays a tricky ball which Buffon goes for anticipating Caracciolo. After 27 minutes Nedved is forced to get out for an injury and is replaced by Kapo. In the following ten minutes nothing remarkable happens, while on 37’ minutes the match is revived by a great shot from Ibrahimovic, deflected by Castellazzi and then kicked wide of the post by Kapo. It’s Trezeguet and Kapo who attack again in the other side’s area but the result remain unchanged.
