Roma in the Champions League

Napoli’s surprise 3-1 defeat to Juventus means that Roma are mathematically qualified for the Champions League.

The Partenopei were beaten in Turin by a second string side with nothing to play for but pride.

This result means that Roma will at the very least enter the Champions League preliminary round.

As things stand, even before the Rome Derby on Monday, the Giallorossi will finish in the top three.

If Lazio get just one point against Roma, Napoli will be mathematically cut out of the race for a Champions League spot.

It would be a bitter blow, as the final round of the season is Napoli v Lazio and could well prove futile.

A PK can be awarded irrespective of the position of the ball, if in play, at the time an offense within the penalty-area is committed.
