I agree, but that's a pretty big "except for that". The kid is incredible for his age. The two mistakes today were huge, though. One resulted with a goal, and the second one should have been a goal too. Chiellini was fucking up in both situations, too, but so was de Ligt and Scamacca was his man after all. We were talking about today's MoM, and with such two mistakes de Ligt is automatically out of the MoM race.

McK is definitely a class above our other midfielders.

Am I the only one noticing that Pirlo doesn't even play him as a midfielder anymore? He's replacing Cuads and Kulu on the wing.
Since round 17, the only time McKennie played as a central midfielder was against Spezia. Pirlo didn't like him there even before that match, but after that game it seems like Pirlo definitely decided not to play McKennie in the center and he's using him only on the right-wing.

P.S: And I must admit that I really don't mind McKennie on the wing at all. Of course not as a starter, but I can see his usefulness there, unlike in central midfield. If the one who'll succeed Pirlo also sees it this way, then I can actually see us going after two central midfielders in the summer.

If you want to be picky that's fine, I mean I said Chiesa was also in contention but he also fucked up on a counter attack, so on the balance of things both De Ligt and Chiesa are my nominations for MOTM. I don't think anyone else stood out.

You are definitely not the only one but I contrary to you think its a mistake to play him there.
He is very good in the CM role and he improves our midfield while on the wings we should play wingers.
When there is a need he can play on the wing but he should definitely play in the center.

P.S I think his performance changed when we made this change as he is still a very good player but for the winger role we need a different type of player.

I think he played McKennie in a two with Rabiot when he brought him on against Porto (not sure if you’re counting sub appearances/cup games).
Playing him as this odd ‘hybrid’ wide midfielder clearly isn’t doing him any favours in my opinion as it feels like a square peg though in my opinion.

Well as much as i was hoping that we don't revert back to the whatever sort of hybrid 3-4-3 with little 4-4-2 to it that they been insisting on trying to play for so long unsuccesfully, today it sure looked more emphasized again on the 3-4-3*(or whatever it is after the 3 backline) side of it and much less so on the rather classic 4-4-2 with less 3-4-3 hybrid touches to it compared for example to the previous game against Napoli where it was pretty much the opposite and we seemed to keep a solid 4-4-2 shape for much of the game, but anyway i guess it depends on the opponents aswell and against Genoa we can seemingly afford experimenting again a bit apparently.

Glad we got all the points though all things considered.
