Same story whether we win or draw, the midfield is a disaster. Tudor's 2-man setup is a liability, leaving the defense wide open anytime our CMs push forward. The gap in the middle was glaring, and Atalanta, not even a peak Gasp Atalanta, exposed us easily, even scoring off it. If Tudor thinks this will magically hold up against teams like RM or any elite attack, the first half of the season is heading straight for disaster. Unless we bring a real CM/DM this winter, buckle up.

David and Openda are not good enough and have to improve fast. With Muani we'd have won the last games. Koopmeiners is not good enough, the guy who plays there has to be far more creative. Those are the main issues we have and they are critical for turning our chances into goals. I stress the importance of having anyone better than Koopmeiners because his position is so important for attack.

Another two points squandered after a dominant performance. We have been unlucky with the dropped points this season.
We were not unlucky. We were playing like headless chickens. When Kenan isn't on his day we look lost. As someone said in the live thread, bunch of donkies. I'm starting to not like Tudor as well.

I don't mind having a 2 man midfield. We don't have many good midfielders to make a 3 worthwhile and it can get more attacking players on the pitch.

But if we are going to do it, we need someone to just sit in the defensive area in front of the defence and mop things up. Too often we are letting teams run through the middle. We also need to be brave with the attacking players. Play an actual RWB at RWB to give some attacking threat down the right and play attackers in roles that suit them. It feels like Tudor is trying to get the best of both worlds and failing.

We had an amazing guy suited for 3 man mid and club terminated him

Agreed, and that was my second point. everyone knows the midfield is limited, so Tudor needs to lean into the squad's actual strengths, the attacking players. As you said, every time he sets up the team, you can see he's trying to strike some balance that just isn't there with this roster.

It actually makes me think of the 2011-2016 sides. Back then we had worldclass defense and midfieled but were always a piece or two short in attack. Ever since selling Vidal and Pogba, it's been the opposite, the firepower is there, but the midfield and balance aren't.

Bottom line, Tudor has to adapt to what he has. Sacrificing goals in the first half for the illusion of balance is a losing strategy with this squad.
