It's not like you take the time to do these posts after the games of Barcelona, Real, Dortmund, PSG, Porto etc. in their forums.
I hadn't realised you were monitoring all those fora to see where I was posting on a regular basis.

Looks a tad cross-eyed but still very much right for a poke.

Always tough to break through when a decent side chooses to play as negatively as Roma did, but it always felt like Juve would win the game given the form and general mood of the two teams.

Juve probably should have scored early because Roma set up badly. Nainggolan played too wide and Vainqueur played too high and so Juve had a lot of chances to find Dybala between the lines.

But Roma adjusted and got Nainggolan more central and that meant Vainqueur wasn't getting pulled forward to try and close Marchisio, so it got very congested and difficult to play from about 30-60 mins.

It was a game crying out for Juve to bring on either (or both) of Sandro and Cuadrado and Cudrado made a difference when he came on. With the game starting to open out a little, he made Roma worry about a player being beaten one-on-one, which hadn't been an issue before that.

Still, as much as Juve were increasing the tempo and looking better, there was no real suggesting that a goal was coming.

And who knows if it would have come had Roma held their discipline.

But for the first time in the second half Juve won the ball in a situation that allowed them to break forward quickly and catch Roma with players out of position. The Juve players did well to recognise the chance early and to go fast and they executed the move nicely.

Juve should have put Roma under more pressure through the game. Dybala played too far away from Mandzukic, Khedira wasn't making appropriate runs from deep, Pogba played poorly and Evra and Lichtsteiner are not that well suited to that sort of game.

Was an interesting move from Roma to have Manolas free to try and close Pogba a lot of the time. Was somewhat reminiscent of when Stramaccioni had Juan Jesus marking Vidal.
 Agreed about Evra and Lichtsteiner especially. If teams are going to park the bus, Alex Sandro and Cuadrado should play. But I'm not sure Allegri predicted Roma's approach.

Not really.

It's a very different skill remaining defensively solid when playing like Roma did last night, rather than remaining solid when trying to be an attacking or balanced team.

And Roma are inevitably going to be more focused when playing Juve than when playing Atalanta or Verona.

Marchisio was amazing (my MotM) even with Oops marking him for 70 mins.

And absolutely, starting WB pair should always be Sandro-Steiner or Evra-Cuadrado. Only exception should be when we're defending a score in the 2nd leg of a two-leg affair.

Having said that, Evra played his part in making Salah a complete non-factor. Most of our attacks came from the right side, and Allegri introduced Cuadrado at about the right time.

@DAiDEViL Can you remove the girl and make Totti naked?
I'd rather remove Totti and make the girl naked. :D

Marchisio motm  He showed up for first 20 minutes, then disappear. Its like this forum's expectation to him is too low, so as long as he played decently he is voted for motm :gsol:
Anti Marchisio? -rep Marchisio is a great player.

Why is this guy not banned?
Good question.

because mods agree with me  or because they know something about football
You know nothing.

Simply stop reacting to his pathetic bashing attempts. Look where he's from, it's obvious that the only thing he knows about football is that you have to kick the Pepsi can into the cardboard box.

Our future captain always plays great. I think our expectations for him are rather too high than low. There were numerous games last season and this season we should have picked him as the MoM but are so spoiled that we just view those performances as regular that's how good he has been.

@Red

Your football knowledge is truly impressive. :delpiero: Almost as impressive as @Dominic :p
