3 pts before international break that’s all that matters.
There’s things I hope Tudor tweaks for the merda game. I like J Mario but he’s not a defender, especially not on the left side.
Bremer outstanding again, he almost made Kelly look like a solid defender.
Locatelli underwhelming for a team captain and midfield leader.
David will simply not work as a lone striker against sides that defend like Genoa did today. If Dusan stays and Kolo is back, we should have rotational options for the attack.

Good win at a stadium we usually struggle in.

We still lack creativity but did create a few good chances.

Not sure where the ref found an extra minute at the end of the game, which nearly cost us. Bremer went down but was nowhere near a minute. Koop also had one of the worst attempts to keep the ball in the corner which led to them getting a possession.

i don’t like Kalulu as a wingback I’d rather see McKennie there.
I thought he had a decent game but we definitely lack creativity at RWB.

The type of games we would have drawn or lost last season(s). Performance wasnt anything to brag about but the team is not built overnight. Positives are our defense with Bremer back looks solid and we are hard to break down. He is just winning all the headers out there. We lack creativity upfront as we are too reliant on Yildiz to produce. Chico isnt consistent and his small stature, if the ref is lenient, might lead to him being bullied all around the pitch. Midfield of 2 would work if we had 2 good mids. With Loca in, we are getting overrun and unable to pick players in advanced roles with precise direct passing since Loca is always choosing the safest option and we look flat. The game then becomes scrappy as today. Lets see more before getting our hopes up.

Can someone give a short summary? I missed the game. Damn you @Lion ;)
First half lacked rhythm and had lots of duels, hard play, small violations. Genoa were playing super aggressive and really took risk in how tough they went in, but they succeeded. In periods, we controlled the ball very well to play out of pressure, while in others the game wasn't very fluent. Hats off to Genoa for really bringing it. The stadium was on fire as well, doing their part to put pressure on our defense whenever they had to play out of pressure.

While we did fairly well to mostly control it and to allow very little defensively, we didn't create that much. We were very reliant on Yildiz who were man marked and often marked by two. He did manage to create a few good situations, it's obvious he is on another level, even in the periods where they close him down really well. I

didn't like our setup on the wings. Conceicao had a terrible game, was bullied whenever he received the ball and didn't seem to have a solution to it. When this happens everything has to come from Yildiz. David was poor also, he didn't find spaces and got very isolated, saw the ball little. When he had the chance, poor touches. Looked like he isn't accustomed to being marked and was generally sluggish. So, the wing backs... We don't create much with Kalulu, who had a decent game though. Joao Mario showed glimpses, but I'd have liked him on the right. We need more space creation and threat from the wing backs to allow our front trio space.

We were outnumbered in midfield, but I think Thuram and especially Locatelli did well to handle it. However, we lacked some clear mechanisms to play out of pressure when they flocked the middle, and they often had a spare player there who could join the forward pressure.

In the second half, they slowly lost a bit of intensity, but they were fighting well. I wasn't too impressed with how much we could create, but I also liked how we didn't loose balance. There seemed to be several situations where players attacked the same spaces leaving us easy to close down.

Bremer was very good, Di Gregorio also did his job and really instills a sense of calmness that is very assuring for our defense. Overall a bit too many errors, but probably provoked by the intense circumstances. Gatti with a good performance as well, Thuram not great but fought really hard.

Overall I would say a decent game in a tricky place, but also hoping we have more to give as the season wears on.
