Why didn't our players know that it's a must win match and that a draw is as bad as a defeat?
Why wasn't anyone rushing in the final 10 minutes, why weren't our subs more attacking, why didn't we attack with more men in the last 15 minutes? Why, why, why?

I can't believe I witnessed this horror. The lack of talent is a handicap, but the lack of desire was shocking.
The problem is that after Roma's game, the team saw this as closing in on Roma by a point instead of falling 2 points further behind Lazio.

The really frustrating thing is that our task now is mission impossible. 6 points in 6 rounds was difficult, 8 points in 5 rounds is absolutely impossible. Even is we win all 5 of our games now we have to hope that Lazio lose 3, Udinese 2 and Roma drop points. Considering what was at stake today the mentality of the players and the manager should have been completely different. The lack of fight is perhaps the biggest disappointment this season and shows that they never REALLY wanted to qualify for the CL

Lazio are now aiming for Inter's place. They are only 3 points behind :D

A - Inter
H - Juventus
A - Udinese
H - Genoa
A - Lecce

With such a schedule, we simply had to win today and give ourselves a chance, giving our all in the match against them in Rome.
What do you think it is, Alen? Why do we crumble in such games but can beat the top 3 (including Roma). How is it possible that we choke like this?

I really don't understand where this psychological block is coming from.

Lazio have Inter and than us.

We could (though extremely unlikely) be 2 points behind them with 3 games less.

It wont happen though.
Regardless of today's result, we have to beat Lazio in our head to head game if we are to get the fourth. Beating them in Roma is now as unlikely as it was before we tied with Fiorentina. We have a much easier schedule than they do. Forza Inter next week, if we win our next two games I'm pretty sure we will get a CL spot. Lazio also have to play Udinese.

Absolutely. I said the same. We had closing in on Roma in mind, we didn't look as far as the 4th place, even though with Lazio playing Inter next week, we could have found ourselves only 3 points behind Lazio ahead of our match with them. Shocking behavior from our players today.

That's why I said yesterday we need to hope Milan, Inter and Napoli keep winning their games (except against us) and we need to win hours...hopefully with that, and a slip up or two form Udinese and Lazio will help us.

The CL doesn't look likely at this point but the hopes aren't gone yet. There's a good chance that Lazio loses against Inter next weekend which would give us a chance to make the gap 2 points with 3 games to go when we face them (provided of course that we win against Catania too). I'm more worried about our lack of enthusiasm though.

:wth:

Why the hell do our players not care? Where the hell are our natural leaders breathing down the necks of the lazy asses in our team?

Imo, our match against Catania is 33-34-33, despite playing in Turin. The Sicilians have relegation at stake and our losers couldn't find motivation today so they probably won't have it next week either.

Today's result was a blow, but our chances to get a CL spot are as much as it were before this game (as slim I might add). Considering Lazio and Udinese games schedule, I don't think much has been thrown away by today's result.

And this is EXACTLY why we needed to win this. We really shot ourselves in the foot(the other one was already shot) so now we really have an uphill battle. We needed 3 points today, unbelievable.

Something big needs to happen this week before the next game. Our fans need to really make some noise between now and the next game to wake the players up. Del Piero/Buffon need to step up their leadership too. Enough is enough. We don't have a coach or BoD to wake the players up, we need our vet's to pull the weight then IMO.

Nope, our chances are much slimmer now. Mathematically our chances are obviously smaller, but due to other factors we stand much less chances than we did. A win today was gonna keep the CL hopes alive. Now our players don't have them and they'll just wait for the season to finish.
Mathematically, it's obvious why we're much worse than we were. If we don't win only one of our matches against Catania, Parma, Chievo and Napoli (we must win Lazio), then it will mean that Lazio will have to lose points on 4 of their remaining 5 matches. In any case they need to lose points on at least 3 of the remaining 5 matches, 2 of which have to be defeats.
That's 1 more match than what we needed before.

It's not much slimmer. Either way, we must beat Lazio in Roma. Agiant, either way we have to win ALL of our next games. Had we won today's game, we would have needed Lazio to: 1- Drop points against Inter and Udinese (two draws, very likely). Or 2- Being defeated by one of Inter/Udinese (still, very likely). Now we need them to only get one point out of the potential six points against Inter and Udinese. In fact, instead of a DD against Inter and Udinese in the first case, we need them to get a LD/DL. It's not a big difference at all. To lose against Inter and to drop points against Udinese, it's still very likely I'd say.

So all in all, the duty is still the same: To win all our remaining games. If it's accomplished, I'm 100% confident that we will get the fourth.

You have to take into account the pressure on our players knowing they have 1 less game to save the season (and next season). Today was a must win and inevitably made our chances much more challenging. We have 1 game less now than we did 24 hours ago to save our season.

The way our players played today, as much as it was worrying, showed that they didn't see the game as a life and death matter :D

I don't think they are unhappy with the result. They are a bunch of fools after all and it could well come in handy towards the end of the season :p

That's one way to look at it...if the players are concerned, then we have no reason to be either. :D

Surely they have everything under control...
