On the day that his beloved Napoli won promotion to Serie B, it was only right that Fabio Cannavaro made the headlines too with a strike which may have secured Juventus a second consecutive title.
Having gone a goal behind at Cagliari to a disputed penalty and then seeing Alex Del Piero miss from the spot, Cannavaro rose in the 96th minute to head home a corner to net the Bianconeri a crucial point.
There is no denying the importance of that header. That was clear to everyone at the Stadio Sant’Elia given the reaction of boss Fabio Capello on the bench. Normally tranquillity personified at the sight of a Juve goal, Capello’s reincarnation of Marco Tardelli’s 1982 World Cup Final celebration underlined just what that strike meant to the Old Lady’s season.
The game in Sardinia was typical of recent Juventus performances. Although there were clear signs of improvement for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, the Bianconeri looked slack throughout periods of the game.
But Cannavaro put in a performance to rank amongst his best, especially in neutralising the threat of David Suazo, now 18 goals this term, who only rippled the net after the referee awarded a penalty for a clean Gianluca Zambrotta tackle.
Although Juve’s lead at the top of the table has now been cut to five points after Milan’s 1-0 win over Inter, Cannavaro’s latest contribution has put them within touching distance of the title with only four games of the season remaining.
Should Juve retain their Scudetto then Cannavaro will have made just as much a contribution as he did last season. He’s Juve’s most used player in the top flight this term with 32 appearances and he’s collected a personal best of four goals in one Serie A campaign.
Juventus’ capture of Cannavaro still ranks as one of the most astonishing pieces of market business in the Italian game. After an injury affected term at the San Siro, Inter remarkably thought he was finished and eagerly got him and his wages off their books by accepting a straight swap deal from Juve which saw Uruguayan ‘keeper Fabio Carini go in the other direction.
It was a poor decision by the Nerazzurri as Cannavaro got back to his high levels of the past, playing such an important role that even Milan criticised their city cousins for their latest comical transfer behaviour. “If Inter hadn’t have given Juventus Cannavaro then we would have won the League last year,” stated Rossoneri Vice-President Adriano Galliani earlier this term.
Juventus have undoubtedly benefited from Inter’s generosity, but so too has the player. Having arrived at the Delle Alpi with just a Coppa Italia and UEFA Cup win with Parma in his honours list, Fabio grabbed his first Scudetto and now looks to have kept his side in pole position for a second.

yeah u had that but,u always have some harsher words for Ibra.And i think thats a bit inconsistent. Alex had a poor game, showed some heart as always and i will give him that every game.But his efforts were really poor, and he squandered the little chances we got.
And chimenti wasn't lucky to save that penalty, it was poorly taken.A weak, low and in the middle penalty.It was a poor as trezi's penalty in the final of the CL a couple of years back but the difference trezi's was shot with power

It's pretty cool with me that Ale didn't play that good as we all expected after-all he's been Impressing all long this season, So I expected a match or two to pass little bad on him. I'm satisfied with him. It's good he missed the Penalty now and not in the last couple of matches when we'll be needing them.
On the other hand, Ibra has been nothing but pain in the ass, thats why I think criticizing him and bashing his is the suitable thing you can do. I can only remmber 2 or 3good matches for him this season TBH.

I hope the management can fix the problem and not just dump him away.
lets put it this way, if camo leaves because of his bad behaviour, then zlatan has to go aswell, i dont understand how we can give exceptions to zlatans bad behaviour, and not camo's i can understand his frustration at that, that face he probably feel unequal amongst the others and being targetted by capello, if camo leaves and not zlatan, i hope camo bad mouths the board and management because none of our players shud be unequal, unless ur called jonathan zebina who's not even good enough for a serie B side
Forza Camo, I love the guy his only one of the few players who actually made an effort in europe for us and has been more consistent than many of our players. As for his attitude problems, I seriously dont blame his sending off against arsenal he shouldnt have even deserved a yellow for his first tackle.. and his appaluds at the end just rounds up our day.. it was sarcasm to the english fans who were being their usual. As for the other issues regarding him and capello? well capello is the clown and his the one who should be actually leaving. This guy should stay.. and if he leaves, then I wish him the best.
as i said y shud camo leavue cuz of his atitude problem wen zlatan looks unlikely to leave, yet he has a far worse atitude problem. anyways camo has been juve's top assist man for 2 seasons now, and was 2nd to kaka last season, and i think hes 2nd atm aswell this season, camo is a born fighter, zlatan isnt camo fights for juve, what he did against arsenal was frustration, and he was obviously being taunted by the arsenal fans which forced him to react, but then again capello never valued his contribution, he always moans about how good zlatan is despite his poor form, and yet never once said a good word about camoranesi, who in some respects is our key from midfield to attack, certainly is when ale is not playing. how can juve fans hate camo for his taunting celebration he did against fiorentina with the corner flag, taunting the on watching batistuta, its almost like maresca's toro celebration, or conte's taunt against fiorentina years ago.

the last bit u may of mis interpreted, i was stating how we all love conte or at least maresca for taunting our opponents, yet we are split on camo, yet his taunt against batistuta's (fiorentina's icon) with his guitar corner flag puts him up there with the likes of maresca, and yet some of us want him to leave, despite the fact hes one of our most important and consistant players for a couple of seasons now.
