Juventus have ‘keeper headache
Thursday 13 April, 2006
Juventus have a goalkeeper crisis on their hands with both Gigi Buffon and Christian Abbiati struggling with injuries.
Buffon, widely regarded as the best in the world, hasn’t trained for the last two days and remains a doubt for Saturday’s Cagliari trip.
The former Parma shot-stopper is suffering with a foot problem which saw him pull out of the Fiorentina match last week during the warm up.
Abbiati, a summer loan signing from Milan, was called into action and played a major role in the game by saving a penalty.
However, the Italian international picked up a slight muscle pull in the encounter and hasn’t trained with the rest of the squad since.
Although it is unclear as to exactly what the situation is in Turin given the club’s Press silence, it seems that both players are struggling to be fit for the weekend.
That will leave boss Fabio Capello with no choice but to hand Landry Bonnefoi his League debut for the club.
The Frenchman, just 23, is vastly inexperienced seeing as he’s only played one League game in Italy with Messina in Serie B.
Giuliano Giannichedda, David Trezeguet and Emerson are also struggling with physical problems.
