Correction. He finished runner up in his first full season, and second in his 2nd full season, behind Lazio and Roma respectively, losing the title on the final day of the season on both occasions, at a time when both capital clubs were formidable opponents. Losing the title to Lazio was unacceptable because we had a 5 point lead with a few games to go, but the bald fuck Collina had no business allowing the game against Perugia to go ahead in that sad soggy sorry excuse of a pitch - it was shambolic. The following season, Roma had Cafu, Samuel, Emerson, Totti, and Batistuta in their ranks, but it was that fucker Nakata that denied us with a long range blast that went past Van Der Sar who was absolute trash in that game; We were 2-0 up with less than 15 minutes to go, the Nakata goal revived them and they equalized, and then they went on to win the title.

He finished 7th because the team was already in free fall, when he was appointed in February of 1999 - you can't attribute the team's failures to Ancelotti in that specific season.
thanks man. it's nice to know people who still remember those old time games from 30 years ago.
