Another game another win and thats probably the most important aspect of last game

I cannot just understand our play at all, we have very short or relatively small men in the attack but instead of whipping in crosses with venom so that it would be hard for defenders to defend against or one of our strikers can just touch it to go in, they keep on hanging balls in the air where the strikers have absoloutely no chance of winning .

Another annoying thing is the fact that our attack build up is so slow its unreal, that by the time they get on with it, the opposition have regrouped and that of cos makes it harder for our front men.
But what do you expect from the likes of Conte and co in the midfield, even the much praised Maresca takes an age to pass the ball sometimes and though he does or did some things very well , he also gave some terrible passes into space where noone is and like Camoranesi, they do not play the early pass often enough

Buffon had nothing to do apart from catching a couple of headers straight at him

Ferrara did okay I guess but his crosses are terrible 6

Montero did nothing alarming but was not tested either 6

Iuliano apart from his goal actually played well but I cannot believe someone on here saying the goal he scored was not going in as unless some invisible alien would come on the pitch to divert it, the ball was going straight in 6.5

Zambrotta so many touches on the ball, very little end product, seems to be back to the old annoying Zambrotta, I hope not as he ahs been my most improved player 5.5

Maresca like i said did some very good things like his scooping of the ball which was marvelous but also some poor things, needs to be able to do the simple things more often 6

Conte well lost of perpiration and no inspiration, he does run and run for the team but no ounce of creativity 6

Camoranesi played well for Camo but for other players , his game was ordinary, did a lot of good things but I just wish he could be quicker in starting attacks 6.5

Nedved actually played better that I have seen him in a while and was active throughout 6

Dv lots of misses, no ball control and of cos cannot hold up the play at all, I am not a fan, have never been but he never hides and his movement should be commended, not help with the amount of time being wasted in releasing the ball and I do actually feel sorry for the guy but unlike most on here I don't rate him that highly 6

Dp did not seem that interested but still did what he does very well, as long as he does not run at defenders and act like he owns the pitch he would get stick. For a player of his ability, I too expect a bit more 6

Appiah must have been reading my criticisms as he has over the past 2 games played better that at anytime since Davids left and probably before that , battled well and horror of horrors , actually played a 40yard pass and got his intended target 6

Miccolii did not really do much to warrant any score

An important victory
22 02 2004

(La Presse)
Juventus had to win to honour John Charles’ memory. Lippi, that today with Juventus played his 400 match in Serie A, after the match he said: “Today it was important to win to continue the approach run to Milan and Roma. We needed the three scores to keep the distance as short as possible. We played well, probably we weren’t too concentrated , but we didn’t risk much. It had been an important victory. Now we look forward. Also if our rivals, mostly Milan, will keep the same rhythm it will be difficult."

-------

you know, every match I wait for Denco's post :D

I saw a delayed telecast of the match and the way I see it Del Piero's freekick was deflected and therefore Iuliano was not offside.

I also saw Di Vaio's misses and had we lost the match I would blame him but now I only feel sorry for him. Hopefully he'll do better next time.

Did you guys see Leeds honouring John Charles? I know i shouldn't say this because we're dealing with death here, but i love it when they have those silences in stadiums. Tens of thousands of people and not a single noise.

I dunno how to explain this, but the silence is loud; it's very in-your-face quiet, I feel like silence is coming out of my tv speakers. You probably all think i'm nuts so i'll shut up now

did anyone notice that the silence in the Leeds match was quieter than the silence oin the Juventus match? I almost thought the turn the microphone off or something wrong with my tv or something.. very quiet... while at Stadio D' Ara you can still hear a lot of people laughing..

Today’s is a victory that will be dedicated to the memory of John Charles. Once more is Iuliano to score the match goal in the second half of the game. Wednesday its Champions League again: appointment at La Coruna.

I haven't visited the forum for quite a while but it's not too late to have my say on the match, so here I go.

Once again Maresca showed some of his class, but as denco pointed out, sometimes he tries to be a bit too fancy and goes for the difficult killer move instead of the easy pass. He was good though and his scooped pass for Di Vaio was a piece of footballing genius. Pity DV couldn't finish off the move.

Buffon didn't have much to do, but handled what came his way pretty well. Ferrara and Montero were ok, while Iuliano was good. Zambrotta made a few nice moves but that final pass or cross was lacking. Not his best performance by any stretch of the imagination.

I thought that along with Iuliano and Maresca, Camoranesi was the pick of the Juve players. Hope he can keep it up. Conte and Nedved were ok, but they can do better.

Di Vaio disappointed me big time. Quite frankly I thought he sucked. Del Piero wasn't very good either but showed a few nice touches. Better than DV, but still not good enough.

Dp didnt show anything really at all, what he did was very lucky, he shot was pretty good thought, but he was largely absent. The goal was going in so really it shoulda been dp's.

DV....needed to sink the beautifall pass from enzo, that goal would have given him soo much confidence. Maybe we would beaten Depor??

Ezno.... class, jus needs more experience with us.

Defense...handled what they are best at, aerial attackers, reasobly well, but were very weak in terms of defending crosses. Still a poo defense...jus we didnt have to deal with much.

Miccoli, if only he had mor etime, im sure he woulda scored.
