He was mainly defending as the whole team was not interested in attacking after he was introduced.
Mainly this.

Liked MDS today. And the defense. Again, we are lacking some cohesion in the attacking department tho. Iguain got like once chance. The other passes were compromised between gazillions defenders. Costa was quite quiet today but is understandable after so many good games. Dybala , well he is a question mark right now.

Overall good for the 3 points. The positive is that we had so many good players on the bench and still won with xleansheet.

Now allegri needs to find a way to make us fluid with the offensive players we have.

These clean sheets are great as it continues to build confidence. The 3 man midfield clearly improves us and allows Pjanic to perform at his best. But, that final third is still an issue. It just doesnt click and it will lack against the best in Europe. It is either higuain or mandzukic...dybala has to be implemented, as does bernardeschi.

The 3 man midfield is simply the way to go. Gets the best out of Pjanic. Even with Khedira it makes it harder for him to fuck up.

Matuidi makes it work.

Pjanic MoTM. That free kick was world class, fucking hell. That silver platter ball to Mario. When he wants to, he is world class.
Pjanic started in a 3man midfield and it sucked.

Then he moved to a 2 man midfield with double wings and he exploded.

Then he was poor again in the 2 man midfield

Now he's great in a 3 man midfield

Wouldnt be so sure to bank it on the 3 man midfield. Pjanic seems to be a player that can be very good if the system is working. But he's not a player that makes the system work on its own.

Unlike for example, pre-injury Marchisio.

To me it seems like its most important that the players in front of him function

3am line that works, and he'll be amazing.

Put an out of form dybala there, and it wont work

Change formating and put good form players there, and it works again, even if the formation is unlogical

Matuidi makes the midfield click imo. Does all the dirty work so pjanic can do pjanic things.
