of the 3 pairs, Juve's pairing is the only duo where 1 player does not clearly let down the other...Kaladze is prone to giving some pathetic performances, whilst Materazzi is just a disaster...Legro is pretty solid and is a great foil for Chiellini

It's more than just Mexes-Juan, but seriously... the only teams who have given up more goals than Roma right now are Torino, Reggina, and Cagliari -- bastions of Serie A defensive units.
Roma are a mess. Mentally, psychologically and morally. That happens when things don't go their way. When they start the season badly, when their most important player, Totti is missing, now their second most important, De Rossi. Plus Mexes only played two of those games. They won one and nI can't remeber what happened in the other. Juan played none.

Not to mention that a midfield of De Rossi, Pizarro/Aquilani, Perrotta, Taddei and Menez, wheer De Rossi is the only really capable defensive player there doesn't help. Riise sucks, Cicinho and Cassetti are terrible defenders. I feel sorry for Roma actually.

You think Mellberg is better than Legro?

He may be as an individual player, but I think Legro is a better partner for Chiellini.
Melberg has bigger experience than Legro. Legro has played in some not so good clubs before juve. On the other hand Mellberg was playing in Villa who is a very good club -not a one but always one difficult opponent for big clubs- and he was the captain of national team of Sweden. He had palyed also in UEFA cup sometimes with Villa. I think that Olof has done bad to his career by staying in Villa for such a long time. I am sure he will be very good here. Everybody blaims him cause he did 2 mistakes in the 2 first matches. But give him some time. Remember how much time did we give to Tiago. There is not easy settling in in Italy after so many years in England. But remember also that he was great already in his 4th game with Sampdoria...

As for the Chiellini partner part. Just give him some time for this also. Maybe i gave a wrong answer. Ok now Legro-Chiellini is a better pair but that's only cause they are playing together for 2 years already. I see Mellberg-Chiellini pair as the best for the future...

yea but Legro proved himself worthy of a starting place last season, it is yet to be seen if Mellberg can reach that level as well...he has been average so far, but seems to be improving :xfinger:

I don't think you get what I mean.

I agree that Mellberg may be a better defender than Legro, but I think that Legro's style is possibly more suitable than Mellberg's for partnering Chiellini.

Chiellini and Mellberg are both very aggressive and want to attack the ball. Legro can be more of a sweeper and is good at organising the defence.

Legro proved himself only cause we had not better choices. Now maybe Mellberg can prove that he is even better. Let's wait and see. With Sampdoria Mellberg was realy perfect. As for Knezevic, when he signed for us he knew that he would be our 4th choice...

I edited my post you may not have seen it. Melberg was the most vital defender of Villa and Sweden. So he may can organize the defence well too. So let's wait and see if he is going to be a good pair with Chiellini...

he did well against Samp, but they had literally NO-ONE in attack...and it is an even bigger compliment to Legro to see that he did so well when we had almost no backup for him and Chiellini

Casano was in attack for Samp. Although Sissoko was on him. Its a cimpliment for Legro that he was our only defender when we had none else. But there is the fact that we had none else and so he was the only one we could rely on. He had no competition. So he was just better from the unexperienced Crisito and the injured Andrante...
