I'm sorry, but no long term plans should include overrated players like Pepe and Martinez, as well as others like Amauri and Marchisio
But Pepe is not long term. Who said that he was?

So in other words, the only permanent transfer that you are complaining about is Martinez?

Well, welcome to 95% of this forum Vinny.

And you mention Amauri and Marchisio. Well, whose fault was that?

Around 41m eur (sales, co-ownerships, loans).

We'll spend around 25-30m eur less on wages this year, though (compared to last year).
And the wages are the big thing in this case. You can't just offload the high wages without getting anyone to replace them.

We didn't have the money this year to replace the high earners with quality players who will also earn a lot.

I perfectly understand some aspects of the new board policy, especially the financial aspects. People are disappointed by the Pepes and the likes, but frankly I didn't expect much better, even if we had a board with proven people.

But the Diego sale and the last minute panic buys ruined everything for me. I don't think that selling Diego in late August (why did we pay his big wages all summer and sell him so cheap when we could sell him for 15.5m even in July?) and buying the same players we ended up buying in the last week was part of the plan. That was panic and mistake after mistake.

effectively we will have more of a transfer kitty with less wages, or is that now how it works..
Yes and no.
If the club has 200m eur for transfers and wages and 150 go for wages then 50 are left for transfers. The next season if the club again has 200m eur for transfers and wages and less go for wages then more will be for transfers. But you can not know how much money will the team have next year. There are various factors that decide that. CL money, sponsorships, tv rights, ticket sales, player sales, various expenses and incomes etc.

So even if you reduce the wage bill by 50m, maybe instead of 200m you will have 150m for transfers and wages and again you get 50m eur for transfers, just like the season before.

No CL Money, the upcoming slashing of TV Revenue, 20000 fans per match. There is only so much that can be expected. Unless your are Inter, and to a much greater extent, Milan, who seemingly have no problems throwing their money around.

We paid 56.55m eur for the new players (buys and loans)
We got 40.925m eur for sales, c-ownerships, loans.

56.550 - 40.925 = 15.625m eur
That's not as bad as I had previously thought. I think I'll wait for at least 5 more games to see how these players perform before I decide to throw this team under the proverbial bus.

Things will have to change soon with the new financial regulations governing UEFA competitions.

I was elated when we got Aquilani out of the blue. After that it was all downhill. If Marotta had seriously pursued Dzeko, then that too is a black mark. Because it took up a lot of time and in the end we didn't get him. Also it'd have been against the policy that the board was aiming for. In other words, the policy itself wasn't written in stone. (Its all speculation of course, I can't prove that he did it)

we need players that are going to help us get into the top 4 and claim a CL spot, and this wasnt achieved by that blind fool Stevie Wonder

You don't think Marchisio is a good player?
nope...he's overrated. I've been saying this for the past couple seasons

The thing I can't seem to understand is why are we loaning most of our squad?
    - Motta
    - Traore
    - Aquilani
    - Quagie
    - Pepe
    - Lanzafame

Out of all these, the only player who we could buy in the end are Aquilani and Motta. But sending the likes like Pepe, Quagie, Traore, Lanzafame back it mostly means we haven't build shit on a long-term plan. These were just the things that gets us moving this year. Next year we need to start building again, or am I missing something?

Btw, how much is that CL money for the groupstages?
