But I do wonder who gets the 4th spot should Juve end up tied on 68pts with Bologna
If it's just between us and Bologna, goal difference will be the decider, since both of our matches with Bologna were draws. We have a superior goal difference so if Juve and Bologna share the 4th place with 68 pts, we will most likely edge them and grab the last CL spot.

If Juve, Bologna and Lazio all end up at 68 pts (Roma can't finish on exactly 68 pts), a mini-table comes into play. In that case Juve wins it (Juve 6 pts, Bologna 5 pts, Lazio 4 pts).

It's hard to do well with these young teams, shouldn't be underestimated, especially in year one. You get the squad wrong in one season and can get relegated.

Atalanta have done really well but then they do have the best youth system in the league, and they have a striker Vlahovic who is far too good for that level, which makes a difference. Our main striker is a veteran.

Would you consider the girone they’re in harder or easier quality wise? We also have the disadvantage of the dumb cunts who run football in Italy placing us in the southern division.

that's the girone (a) that our own next gen used to compete in until 2023 before they somehow started to throw us around between divisions. of course i have no idea on this year's competition's quality, i haven't watched a single match, i just wanted to point out that this season was more difficult to our next gen due to the extra traveling to deal with, with all the southern away games to play. kudos to brambilla for managing that aspect of the season as well as the disastrous defense he inherited

btw this season atalanta finished with 57 points. our next gen in 2022 finished on 54 points in the same division. some of our next gen seasons were not bad at all

Their top teams were harder but I'd say there's more depth and parity in Girone C, which is more important as the teams are only likely to make the playoffs. Travelling to Campania and Sicily for away games is obviously a massive hindrance rather than a 1 hour max journey that Atalanta U23 had to make. But as I said, having a top striker makes a lot of the difference at this level.

Atalanta play the team who finished 2nd in Girone C in the next round. It's hard to win the playoffs as there are so many games and there is the disadvantage of starting with the league position handicap. It's possible Atalanta could get promoted but in close games experience will be important.

With Milan relegated I suppose it makes more sense for Juve to play in Girone A or B next year.

Yeah I hope we play in the more northern divisions next season. Makes absolutely fuck all sense for us (or any Northern U/23 club) to be playing in the Deep South and Sicily.

I would love for us to have a proper tilt at making it up to Serie B next season and beyond. Would be amazing for us to have a team in the 2nd division. We could entice even more top prospects to sign with us imo.

Also if Next Gen were to get promoted, threaten our first teamers that should they underperform, they will be sent straight to Serie B with Next Gen

Looking at guys like Kelly, Koop, Kily etc

Cant we threaten to send them to play in Serie C? I think that would be worse for them. I have never disliked as many players at Juve as I am finding myself to do these days. I'd save 3-4, others can fuck off.

Player's associations don't like things like that. It's also really shit for morale.

Not if they earn it then they deserves to me there and the over all quality of the team would improve. That's how progress works
that's true, but next gen is about to provide a large number of youngsters with opportunity and experience, and it looks like serie c is the perfect league for them. atalanta have a stronger u23 side, and based on the small sample size, they aren't any better than our next gen. barcelona b is also stuck in the spanish 3rd division iirc. besides some regular overaged players, these teams also change squads fairly often due to the age limit, so there's not a lot of time to make a team perfectly tick

if we could field a serie b worthy u23 team then by all means they should play there. but based on the track record of a few u23 teams, that's not realistic on the long run

It doesn't quite work like that, this is a development side and this is a good level for them, we are up against some seasoned pros who are physical and have an abundance of experience, something that our team doesn't have as we are a development side. A step into Serie B will not only be alot harder but can be detrimental to the development of players who can't compete since the squad has its limitations due to its purpose. The next gen is not about getting promotion, it's about creating a competitive environment for players to grow and develop in and I feel they are at the right level now.

Huge earthquake in Serie B! Brescia is expected to be penalized with -4pts for payment irregularities, which would send them directly to the third division. Sampdoria would thus be reinstated for the play-out, Frosinone heading toward direct survival. The Salernitana-Frosinone play-out scheduled for tomorrow has been postponed (Gazzetta)
