He had some brilliant moves here. But people forget he made horrible mistakes too, many of them. And there was a reason why many wanted him gone, just like Allegri.

I never liked him and many of his moves were annoying but in the end he is the best at building a core for the team and his teams are always balanced which allows the manager to work his ideas.

Would we be in this position now with Marotta? Highly unlikely, given he was against the CR7 signing, and seeing the sort of team he has built at Inter. Add even just Barella to current Juve and we’re in far better shape.

We won 4 straight domestic doubles before he left and have cratered since, and as I said, going by the evidence of what he has done at Inter, and how he managed to rebuild us after 2015 final into a finalist again with an entirely different team just two years later, he would have reloaded us again if we had kept on with him instead of signing Ronaldo and going all-in on Tici’s shitty unbalanced strategy.

We just disagree then. We were not falling apart at all in my opinion before we bought Ronaldo instead of dealing with actual problems in the squad the summer Marotta left. His last season was a 95 point season, warding off the strongest challenge we had in the entire scudetto run. We scored our most goals and had our best goal differential of that entire era. We lost on a last second winner to the eventual winners of CL. Did we have some issues that needed fixing? Yep. And I for one am confident Marotta probably would have been fixing them over the next couple mercatos instead of crippling the club’s finances with Ronaldo and a ragtag band of overpaid, underperforming shitty players.

nobody said marotta was perfect. but the level of his competence can't be compared to his successors, and it's not even close. the club made some mistakes on the transfer market, like higuain, costa and berna were overpriced, the mvp midfield was never properly rebuilt, and we moved away from hiring the best italians, but at least the budget was sustainable, and our domestic hegemony was never in a risk. he's not perfect, still the best in italy.

i wish agnelli was wise enough to reform the scouting department. inda would have never won a title without marotta.

Marotta made some incredible transfers here. When you look at it you can easily start crying when you realize shit we've been doing over the past years. So I'm not even saying Marotta did a shit job here, not at all, nor I'm saying how Paratici did better. I'm just saying how many people wanted Marotta gone and some complaints were how he always focuses on quantity over quality. It started felling apart when we lost that beast of a mid since they were never properly replaced. You could list his bad transfers and you'd see quite a lot of them. Overall I'd say he's literally perfect for rebuilding a squad. I'm not sure he's the right type to make squad jump on another level, it's at least what we've seen here so we'll see how he handles Inter.

Speaking about Inter, he did great so far. However, it should also be stated how Inter spent quite a lot of money ever since Asians took over. They managed to spend around 350mln euros, no? It's surely a big sum. I think it was quite a blow for them to from Hakimi, Eriksen and Lukaku to Correa, Calhanoglu and Dzeko eventhough all three of them do good. But let's not forget this is not just Inter dominating Italy, it's also us sucking like we've never sucked before. They basically have no competition while Serie A is weak as is.
