Almiron in River Plate talks
Tuesday 29 July, 2008
Juventus midfield misfit Sergio Almiron is being linked with a return to his homeland and River Plate.

The 27-year-old joined the Old Lady from Empoli this time last year for around £7m and there were high hopes for him.

However, Almiron failed to settle in Turin and made just five Serie A starts last season, leaving for Monaco on loan in January,

With the arrival of Christian Poulsen, it seems highly likely that Almiron will leave Juve this summer and he has been a target for Palermo, Napoli and Turkish giants Galatasaray.

But Tuttosport now claims that River Plate are in pole position for the unsettled star’s signature.

Almiron has reportedly flown to Buenos Aires this morning to discuss a possible move to Los Milionarios.

After seven years in Europe, it could represent a chance for the underachieving talent to revitalise his career.

Juventus midfielder Sergio Almiron looks unlikely to join River Plate because the Argentine side can’t afford his wages.

Almiron joined the Bianconeri from Empoli last summer, but he failed to make an impression last season.

The 27-year-old was sent out on loan to Monaco for the latter part of the campaign but an injury prevented him from giving his best.

There had been suggestions that Almiron would return to his homeland with River Plate for the coming season after the arrival of Christian Poulsen, but that now seems unlikely.

“I don’t think that River Plate have enough money to pay his wages,” agent Claudio Vagheggi revealed to Tuttomercatoweb.

“Juventus are inclined to send him out on loan and there are offers but there is no one agreement that is most likely.

“There needs to be patience regarding Fiorentina and Sampdoria. We can only ask for calm.”

Almiron for Pasqual

Possibile scambio all'orizzonte tra Juventus e Fiorentina.

Whilst an improvement on Molinaro, Pasqual is nothing special but if this artilce has merit than it wouldn't be a bad bit of business from Secco

Look like Prandelli really wants the guy. They could pay a small fee for the loan and have the rights to buy him later.

:xfinger:
Corvino: "We're not interested anymore. We want to move Jorgensen in the center..."

They wanted him on loan with no fee. F*ck'em!
Looks like Prandelli and Corvino will get what they wanted and Secco's A-hole is getting bigger and bigger by the minute.

They say he'll be in Florence tomorrow for the medical. Simple loan with right to buy.

Viola announce Almiron arrival Tuesday 5 August, 2008

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Fiorentina have officially announced the arrival of Juventus midfielder Sergio Almiron on a season loan.

The Argentine midfielder hasn’t managed to assert himself in Turin since arriving from Empoli last summer.

And the 27-year-old will now hope to regain his confidence at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.

“Fiorentina would like to announce that they have signed Almiron from Juventus on a temporary basis with the option for a co-ownership agreement at the end of the contract,” a statement on the Viola’s website reads.

Almiron will be officially presented as a Fiorentina player at 3.30pm this afternoon in the Gigliati’s pre-season camp in Sieve.

Last season’s fourth-placed side have now made nine signings this summer.

what a stupid deal, a loan to one of our rivals who have an option of a co-ownership instead of full-ownersip. So we will still be hanging on to this player for the next couple of seasons instead of just selling the guy for some funds.

well we won't be paying his wages anymore, and that half-million we get is at least something... Almiron is hard to sell, his salary is the problem mainly. A lot of teams (mid-table-teams) would have taken him but no one can afford to pay him, even on loan. I'd have preferred getting rid of him too, but if he performs decently (let's not hope too good) then maybe we will be able to sell him in the end...

Don't cry for me Argentina, the truth is we never loved you....
