OK, so here's the deal. On Friday and Saturday, places from Washington D.C. to central New Jersey recieved at least two feet of snow, with areas like Frederick, Maryland getting 29 inches. Out in Eastern Maryland, one town received 40 inches.

Suburbs in the Mid-Atlantic I-95 corridor still have a foot of snow on the roads, making travel impossible. Emergency crews are having trouble getting through neighborhoods that have not been been cleared yet. Road crews are having trouble finding places to put the snow. State of Emergencies are still in effect for multiple states.

Now, just four days after the monster storm, another is brewing. Two low pressure systems, one in the Mid-West and one in the Southeast, will combine to form a massive Coastal low pressure system that will ride the coast to the North, throwing snow back into places like DC and New York. It will also whip up winds, potentially hurricane force, along the coast, creating blizzard conditions. Looks like we are looking at another two feet of snow for places in Maryland and New Jersey, depending on the exact track. If so, this will shut down DC and the surrounding areas for days, with all commerce and travel brought to a halt.

Weekly snowfall records will be broken without a doubt, with some places measuring over 50 inches of snow in one week. That's 1.25 meters for our Metric friends.

Absolutely historic and potentially disastrous.

One forecast model, the GGEM, is showing 2 inches plus of liquid precip for the State of Maryland. That would equal over two feet of snow. Usually the ratios of snow and rain is between 10 to 20 inches of snow for 1 inch of rain. It depends on the temperature, with lower temps yielding higher amounts.
