With his small stature he never really stood a chance in our previous system as one of the two strikers. Field him little wide, further from the goal, preferably on the left side, so that he isn't constantly bullied by defenders and where he will have more space to operate. Then we will evaluate his performances and see whether he has what it takes to make an impact here.

Regarding his contract this shouldn't be an issue. Risking to lose him on free, while he is still fairly young and in the worst case scenario might fetch us 10m, would be absurd.

It's the player's initiative and how the team suits him that counts. if we play him out of position he will be mediocre.
