If we played a sistem like barca, gio would freakin rock.

If we stick to 4-4-2, then I suggest Gio and DP rotate, Gio is too small for defense so let him play a more free type role upfront.

I dont see why we cant run a more Manchester formation where we let him rome up the left without playing defense like Ronaldo does and it is still like a 4-4-2 and we could still play the same way we have been just less help on the left from gio. Its hard to think more attacking till we straighten our defense up though.

Exactly, since we have so many issues with our team and a pretty decent coverage upfront. I think that we should rather invest on wingers and wingers, before we set eyes on forwards...
Giovinco may become DP's heir!

If we got 3 pts before every game that this sentance was said we would have taken the championship 2 months ago.
Actually, if we got 3 points for every time this sentence was uttered on Juventuz, we'd have more points than have been awarded to all teams combined, in the history of Serie A.

Doesn't make the situation any less frustrating, or the statement any less appropriate, especially given the fact that we're playing the second worst team in the league at home (and just tied the worst team in the league, in a game where Seba didn't even make the bench).

Too bad our master tactician all but refuses to play Pavel and Seba at the same time... because with so few games left, I'd certainly bet on Pavel starting this match at home.

Giovinco exchange for Cassano?

Juventus have reportedly offered £8m cash plus Sebastian Giovinco and Sergio Almiron to tempt Antonio Cassano to Turin.

The club hierarchy have confirmed on several occasions that they are interested in the Sampdoria starlet, although so far the bids have been rejected.

It is now claimed that, with Inter also entering the race by proposing Luis Jimenez plus £17m cash, Juve have upped the ante with an offer Samp can’t refuse.

They are willing to hand over £8m cash plus full ownership of Under-21 international Giovinco and ex-Lazio midfielder Almiron.

Giovinco is very hot property on the transfer market and the willingness to part with him before he has truly developed his potential suggests just how much Juventus want Cassano.

The Atomic Ant is a favourite with fans and considered one of the brightest prospects in Italy’s football future, while he was also linked with Arsenal.

Almiron is currently on loan to Fiorentina, where he has struggled to find space in their midfield.

^^^^ Would be a unbelievably stupid move!

We have a player widely regarded as the best Italian prospect, has shown that he is capable of playing at the top level with his performances in the Champions League, has been treated terribly all season and has not complained and been ever willing to play whatever role the manager has asked, gets on well with the team and has a passion for Juve.

and we are willing to use him as a PART-exchange for a player who would be one of the biggest gambles in our clubs history, is significantly older than Giovinco, attitude is questionable at best, and in the long-run likely to be no better than Giovinco.

There is no doubt about Cassano's talent, in fact I would not mind seeing him at Juve, but to give away full ownership of one of our prized assets for only part of the transfer is stupidity beyond belief.

Ah well, at least I can keep telling myself that it is only a rumour!!

It's funny how Ranieri's pathetic excuse for not fielding Giovinco (being that he is weak defensively) has turned into some kinda truth among many of you. Giovinco isn't weak defensively, he works as hard as anyone. Sure, he won't win much in the air and there are of course those that are more solid and will win you more balls but he runs non stop and tracks back every time. We are yet to see an opposing team having a field day on his flank due to Giovinco not fulfilling his defensive duties.

I don't see the problem in fielding him on either side of the midfield because there is none. Granted, his best position would be a slightly more advanced role, a free one if you will, but from what we've seen so far this guy excells from anywhere, he is just too much of a footballing talent to keep outside any team. Fuck off Ranieri.

it still amazes me how everyone's knickers keep getting in a twist after reading these retarded BS articles...

Its just the old saying 'No Smoke Without Fire' and the fact that with our management anything is possible.

Of course its probably just another rumour, but there is always an element of doubt in my mind

The blame still lies with Ranieri but from a different angle imo. Its obvious the difference between Neddy's workrate and Gio's, you see neddy numerous times helping out the defense and the midfield from the first till the last minute. Gio himself mentioned that the doesn't have the capacity to do the same job. Also I remember the Palermo game where it effected us, if am not mistaken.

“It’s just that there are some situations where I have to keep coming back to help out the defence and I find I’m not as sharp when attacking. I don’t have Nedved’s stamina, so that is a bit of a problem for me.”

Now, does that mean put him on the bench because of that? NO!. You accommodate that by finding ways around it. The most obvious choice is a change of system. But even if he doesn't want to change the system you could assign the right personnel to cover for gio or simply assign the right responsibilities to the players. The options were there but Ranieri didn't have the balls to use them and possibly was one of the reason for his undoing.

Do you want to know a player that is good and doesn't defend?? AHH, and more, plays on the left of the midfield!

Is the one who is considerated the best in the world!! Cristiano Ronaldo!!

If he plays and he is one of the best in the world, i don't see any excuse for not playing, one of the biggest talents in the World, GIOVINCO!

He plays because the team accommodates his deficiencies either by better allocation of roles or by keeping possession better. Our coach simply resigned to fact, instead of trying the other options.

but you forgot that there are few options without changing the system ... who could cover giovinco better ? we have a molinaro that is (sad i have to say it) our best left back (from the defensive standpoint) and some de ceglie that is even more suspect on the left back position. there is no one that could bail out giovincos less defensive approach on the left back position. there could be a defensive midfielder that would play more left sided instead of central, but as we had many injuries, there were not even enough defensive midfielders available to choose from ... most of the time we had two def mids that were fit, so there is no possibility to put the one that could cover gio more on the pitch ..
