his performance last night was exeptional under the circumstances. He looked so fired up and motivated and made some of the best defenders in the world dizzy, he needs a lot more first team football, he's going to be a massive player for us over the next 10 years

More important I think Giovinco needs to learn more about the tactical and technical structure of Serie A. He definitely has a lot of talent, but what he lacks is the tactical ability, which sees him trying to make weird decisions. Now that Nedved is out, I guess it is time for Giovinco to show us his worth!

Just what I was going to say. Last night we saw a fiery Giovinco, with lightning pace and awesome abilities who blazes past defenders. But what I realized what his weaknesses could be.

He plays at a high pace and in games where u need frantic attacks it helps, but when u need to control possession, and dictate tempo at a slower pace, how effective can he be to both attack and defence?

Especially when played at LM where Moli is behind him.
But it's all a matter of tactical know how on both his part, and the coach.

He really was great and tore up the chelsea players a few times. We need to make the most of him and trust him more like they do with young players at Arsenal. We have such solid CM's and Giovinco is not a great LM. HE is best when he can go where he wants and pull teams apart.

We should play:

---------Giovinco-------

Marchisio--Tiago--Sissoko


Amauri or Iaquinta can be swapped for either DP or Trez.. Camo can play in place of Tiago on the right of a 3 man mid.

We should play a few games like this just to see if it works.

yeah i agree, that way he has more room to roam and get involved in more areas of the pitch.

I think Giovinco plays absolutely brilliantly when he has a partner to combine with. I'd love to see him pair up with Ale behind Trez/Amauri.

4-3-2-1 suits him best IMO, when he is given the role right behind the strikers, he seems a little isolated and lost. He needs a player to drop back and support him like Ale or Camo. When he plays behind Trez and IQ, two identical strikers who don't drop back to midfield, he doesn't play his best.

I say just give him a free role up top in the straight 4-3-3, allowing him to combine whenever he wants to, which would probably be more so on the left. But that's quite alright.

In regards to his stature, he sure held up well against Bosingwa and Mikel, so that's good news.

Besides being isanely talented and skillful, the kid plays with such an enormous amount of passion and heart. He's never intimidated by pressure or his relatively small figure, very admirable player.

That's what I see as his best position right now.

I'm not sure he is ready to play as a true trequartista yet, as it is much harder for him to find space in the centre of the pitch.
