Tuesday 27 July, 2010
[FONT=Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular]Bari President Vincenzo Matarrese believes his side would have a realistic chance of qualifying for Europe if they were to sign Juventus playmaker Sebastian Giovinco.

The Atomic Ant looks set to leave Turin this summer in an effort to play regular first team football.

His representatives held talks with Parma yesterday about a possible co-ownership deal, but Bari have also expressed their interest on several occasions over the last month.

Bari Coach Giampiero Ventura believes the San Nicola is the perfect stage for Giovinco to grow as a star performer. However, he also warned that if the 24-year-old is looking for money, he should go elsewhere.

“If Giovinco were to arrive, he would be more than welcome. We would be happy,” Matarrese said.

“Conversely, we wouldn’t make a drama out of it. The team is already complete. He can only play for Bari if Juventus are prepared to send him on loan.

“We can’t afford to go crazy.”

When asked if Bari would balk at Giovinco’s wage demands, Matarrese said: “We also have other players on €1m a year, but this is a different argument.

“If he elevates the quality of the team and creates enthusiasm among the fans, spending of this nature can be supported.”

Parma sporting director Pietro Leonardi to Sky Sport Italia:

I don't know who is closer to Giovinco between us and Bari, but he is part of a list of players that we are trying to secure. But he is not the only player. We are tranquil, but we want to put the cherry on the cake.

So out of the two (Bari, Parma) It seems Bari would see him as a super acquisition. Its difficult to say which club would be better for him but if lanza made it back from parma to our team, id go for parma. At Bari however the team would be built around him so that would be equally enticing for him to shine. Whatever the case wish him all the best.

I think Parma would be the perfect solution. We've all seen that this guy is perfect on the wing and Parmas new coach Pasquale Marino usually plays a 4-3-3 which would fit Seba perfectly. He'll also get to play with better players if he goes to Parma. In Bari he would probably have to play as a second striker or a trequartista and as we've all seen before Seba isn't at his best when playing in a central position.

And that is exactly why I am not optimistic. Why should I put in an effort to be optimistic about Gio when we don't want him...I will save my optimism for selling Diego for Dzeko.

I say we send him on loan. He'll most probably be a starter there and we can see how he performs before we decide upon him.
Still he has to be sent on loan to see how he performs?!!!!

The guy is already 23,he is not a 17 yr old teenager + we all know hw good Seba is.

What do u mean by " He'll most probably be a starter "? Do u think that Seba even in teams like Bari or Parma is not 100% going to be a starter:sergio:

Why do some ppl treat him as if he is Ali Dia?
