they have signed some good players this season, and they look better than the last season.
I think that they had an even better squad last season. Don't forget that they lost Miccoli, Marecsa, Chiellini and Obodo. Fiore and Frey won't make up for that.

i coudnt help posting a detailed reply to this thread:D
apologies in advance:D

i dont want to pick who'll win the scudetto and who'll not,ill just pick the top 4 sides, and i think it will be the big 4 : juventuz,Milan,Roma and Inter(in no specific order).ill talk about teams that will be challengers to juventus both in italy, and in europe.

id give roma a very big chance of putting up a serious scudetto challenge this season.i belive spalleti is the right man who can control the notoriously wild roma squad, and he can get them on the right path.but roma's season depends more on totti than on spaletti.if he has a great season, roma will kick butt,if he has a poor season, roma will self destruct, its as simple as that.he does have the habit of putting in great performances prior to major tournaments with the national team as it is evident from the season precedding the 2002 wc and the euros last year.and being a juventus fan,as much as i hate him,i cant deny that he is capable of single handedly bringing the scudetto back to roma.yes,he is THAT good.i dont know if roma will win the scudetto or not,but they do seem to have great seasons every now and then, and it all comes to down to possibly, the most gifted creative midfielder in italy right now.

im still skeptical of inter's chances.true, they've won two consecutive trophies, but i dont think that they have enough in them to perform consistencly well for 38 matches.they're more like a team that will be in the final reckoning every time, but will fail to deliver when it matters most.they've got a good squad, they've got a very good coach, but they severly lack the unity that you need to win major titles.and plus i think living in Ac Milan's shadow for so long has dealt them a major psychlogical blow.i expect them to have a similar season to the last one : being in the final reckoning, but not winning.

i would consider Ac Milan as the team that could fall below expectations.they've got a great squad, but they've got TOO great a squad i think.they seem to cover in almost all positions, but somewhere down the lane,i think ancelloti will get his mix of players wrong on the pitch, atleast in the race for the scudetto.though i expect them to put on a great challenge in the CL after what happened last year.they'll be desperate to change things.

ive got my money on the scudetto going to either juventus or roma.and the italian cup to parma.and i think gilardino will finish the season as the top scorer in the league, followed by either montella or trezeguet.

As far as Europe is concerned,i think the team to beat will be Barcelona.i wont give Chelsea too much of a chance, because they might have the same problem that Milan have : having too many good players, and getting the mix wrong at crucial stages in the season.plus i also think that due to the immense pressure at Chelsea for a place in the starting 11,they lack harmony in the team.i think they will burst.somehow,i cant seem to write off Arsenal as far as the CL is concerned.Prior to this season,i wudve picked Arsenal as the first 'giant' to be knocked out of the CL,but viera departure has me believing otherwise.I think that because everyone written them off, they might find that extra bit of motivation and a stunning season for Henry might not come as a surprise.i would call Arsenal the dark horses in the CL.

Real Madrid have fallen. This season might be even worse than last season for them.Man utd have had the same coach for a bit too long, and unless they get a new guy,i dont see them winning the CL.Liverpool had a freak outing in Europe last season, and i think it can be assumed that they might have started their revival under Benitez, atleast as far as Europe is concerned.

Somwhere down the lane,i think Juventus will meet Either liverpool or man utd in the knockout phases of the CL.

coming to the end,i think Juventus will have a great season in Europe this time around. And somehow,id give them a better chance of lifting the CL rather than the Scudetto. This could well be the year we are crowned champions of europe:cool:

for people who have been swearing will reading this post, please accept my apologies.

im not nostardamus, and what ive written is my opinion, something that you have every right in the world to agree or disagree with.

Miccoli and Maresca weren't that impressive.their biggest problem last season was their goalkeeper.Frey can solve this problem.they've also signed Luca Toni who can make a nice offensive line alongside Bojinov and Pazzini.
