atleast with national team he has scored those......i remember a croatia game where he made everything wrong what he could.......got own goal, made a big mistake what cost them a freekick goal....first got a yellow, later got sent off.....i dont remember anymore against whom croatia played, but i remember tv commentators where talking about tudor moustly after the game.......and where laughing about him.....

i think you need to look at the aerial ability,and not necessarily at their ability to score goals.for eg,if we came up against someone like peter crouch,i dont see anyone of our defenders posing him a realistic challange in the air.true,canna is one heck of a defender,but his aerial ability is not brilliant which is obviously bcoz of his height.
we lack height in the back 4,where we need tall and strong defenders that that challenge big forwards effectivley.the lack of height/not great aerial ability in our defence could be exposed against players tall forwards..

I consider defenders that score as a bonus of their skills, becos their job is to defend most of the time. Mainly it is the attackers' job to score and by right he should score, not the defenders who do that. However it will be good if we have a defender who has aerial ability.

1st of all Cannavaro, a defender of height 1.75m who can jump amazingly high considered for a short defender and head balls in. He likes to score and track back when it becomes a goal kick. Despite these facts, I don't think he's really that good in terms of aerial ability juz becos he can score. I would prefer him to defend well.

2nd of the lot, I know I would be laughed at, but I wish Tudor will be back with us. His aerial ability is good and he can defend well. Never mind about his injury, he is actually a bonus to the team. Not only can he defend well, he can also score with his head in ugrent circumstances. He also knows how to volley. This is a plus point about him, even though I still prefer him to play in Juventus as a defender.

It is not the scoring ability that is the most important question, it´s the threat in attack that opens up possibilitys for others as well.

-Good free kick takers
-Headers after the breaks

I think of Rio Ferdinand when I read this thread. He was touted as an 'aerial threat' when he scored for England some 3 years ago, yet Mr "I'm Worth 120k per Week" has never found the net for Man Utd.
