Thanks to his goal against PSV, Mbangula—in addition to scoring his first goal in the tournament—has become the youngest player in Juventus history to score in a knockout match of the top continental competition.

The Belgian achieved this milestone at 21 years and 26 days old.

Was awful until the goal lol. But thank you Sammy Bangs.

IMO he should be starting.
He should be starting but for Empoli or Venezia. He does score an odd goal now and then but his overall play is terrible. He lost the ball so many times yesterday. On some occasions it looked commical. Someone said the Count is 900 years old, and last night he really looked his age.

he's 21, an actual youngster, has one Serie C season under his belt and before that was in Primavera. he should be allowed to continue to grow and continue to be given chances.

it took 2 full seasons for Rafael Leao to settle in Milan and Serie A, but by his 3rd season he became one of the best attackers in the league, we won't ever get to that point if we keep writing off and shipping off youngsters after one bad stretch

Has his worst game ever and still scores the winner in a CL game for Juventus.

This fucker can't do a thing wrong.
I think it says a lot that Connie and Sammy came on and stunk the place up but still all the fans (at least us morons on here lol) are blaming Motta for not playing them enough.

It's that Mbangula managed to win the game in spite of Motta that's increasing his fortune with the Jj faithful

An interview with Samuel Mbangula, one of the biggest surprises of Juventus this season, on the Lega Serie A YouTube channel.

SEASON DEBUT WITH A GOAL - "At the beginning of the season, before the match against Como, I didn’t expect much. I had just been called up to the first team, and for me, as well as for others, it was unthinkable to start as a regular in the first league game. It was our season debut, and we had to gain confidence and, of course, win because we are Juventus. It was totally unexpected—when the coach announced the starting lineup, I was shocked. I struggled to stay still and focused, I was in a whirlwind of emotions. But then, I managed to do my job and immediately repay the coach’s trust."

THIAGO MOTTA - "I get along very well with the coach. He expects a lot from me, and I know I have his trust. I will always be grateful to him for believing in me from the start. He always pushes me to do my best and understand where I can improve, pointing out what works and what doesn’t. He compliments me but also tells me not to be satisfied with past achievements but to keep working hard and improving. I think he’s the right coach for me, especially because he helps me grow as a player."

DIFFICULTIES - "The secret to getting back up is the unity of the team. If everyone has the same final goal—both the team and the coach—then even if the result doesn’t always come, it doesn’t matter. You pick yourself up and get back on track. In our squad, we all have different qualities, and if we put them at the service of the team, we can achieve our objectives."

JUVENTUS CALL AT 16 YEARS OLD - "I realized I wanted to be a footballer and that football was my passion when I was very young, especially thanks to Captain Tsubasa, which I used to watch. That’s where it all started. When Juventus reached out to me, I was at Anderlecht. I had other offers, but Juve presented their project to me—they were very convinced, and from the way they spoke, I understood that they truly believed in me. Now, I want to repay their trust. Since I’ve been here, I’ve already learned a lot about tactics and the mental aspect of the game. Now, I have a fire inside me that I didn’t have before. At Juve, if you don’t give 100%, you will never succeed."

GOALS - "At the beginning of the season, my goal was just to get some playing time. Now, I want to become an important player for the team and perform at my best every time I step onto the pitch. I want to make the most of every opportunity, both in terms of performances and scoring. Juventus' goal is always to win. We want to win every match and go all the way in every competition. That’s how things work at Juve."

I think he’s better than conceicao, is that crazy to say? Either way Motta isn’t playing him enough.
i think it is, because, no matter that currently Chico has a dip in form, he could already had like 10 assists if there were better players around him. in 2024 he created so many good chances no one was able to finish.
Mbangula is player of the few moments and usually sucks outside of this moments, while Conceicao constant danger most of the games, just lacks decision making, especially lately.

They operate different roles, give the LW role to Mbangula and he performs better than Gonzalez, I'd put conceicaoat at the RW spot, he is capable of miracles. I rate Gonzalez as a SS/Winger or as a second ponta if he is in form.

Mbangula on Instagram:

“Thank you for everything, coach.

I will never be able to thank you enough for believing in me from the very first day and for allowing me to fulfill a part of my dream, the most important part in any case! You have always wanted the best for us since you arrived, and you have shown it.

I wish you all the best for the future!!”

Too early to say, but I hope he won't be a casualty of the coaching change. Motta gave him his debute and used him plenty in rotation, kid was grateful enough to be only Juve player to publicly thank and bid farewell to Motta.

Only 2 games, but I hope Tudor doesn't see him as only nameless youth player, plus being a pure winger tactically doesn't get forgotten. Kinda like how the better Conceicao has been ignored first 2 games cuz he is a pure winger, not inside SS guy or wingback type.

Regardless of how he feels about Motta as a coach (and he is very inexperienced so bear that in mind) it's only right to thank the guy who gave you your debut. Especially because it was so memorable.
