his inability to close caceres down for his goal almost cost us the 3 points.

We switched to a 2 man midfield at half time and we turned into a shit show for most of that half shows that you didn't even watch the game.

As a matter of fact we had Chiellini bypassing the midfield in the 2nd half

Dybala meanwhile was the one who played so badly that he scored 2 goals and secured the win.

Dybala didnt play bad. I never said anything like that. We switched to a 3 man midfield because our back line was weak and we needed more defensive output that Dybala cant give us from the AM. Not his fault hes a forward and shouldnt have to defend. If you look at how many goals we gave up early in the saeson you would know that our problem this season isnt Khedira or Dybala but our back line. Its starting to get sorted out but until then we needed extra coverage.

Blaming Khedira for that goal is laughable

Matuidi's inclusion has brought about balance and proved that 3 man midfield is the only way forward this season. It's clear from the matches Marchisio has played this season that he has so much more to offer than khedira, it doesn't take a genius to see that. But seriously Khedira is costing us goals and potentially points too, his performance vs sampdoria epitomised this

My problem with him, is that he is nothing special to warrant so much playing time. Yeh he is not bad, but he is so average. Excels at nothing. Is like a passenger.

We went from having 3 wc dudes (4 if you include preinjury cheesio), whose each had seomthing really good to offer.

Pogba has physical presence and was good with the ball at his feet, doing some nice things with his talent.
Pirlo, everyone knew what he did.
Vidal, added physical presence like no other
Marchisio had a great balance of everything.

The 4 of them never shied away from their duties on midfield and were talented in their respective duties.

Khedira, on the other hand, is very average at everything. He doesnt defend properly, doesnt run his lungs out like less talented players like padoin and sturaro, he doesnt offer anything extraordinary in attack.

The worst of him is that he loves to evade responsability by passing backwards and running into space to wait for something to happen.

Yeah, he does some nice runs sometimes... but we dont need him to do that. We have other offensive players for it. He should support those offensive players by keeping the midfield tight. But he doesnt.

Thats why pjanic looks much better with matuidi, who is not a wolrld beater but he offers tackles and physical presence.

I dont know how to defend his starting place in a midfield 2. And even when he can be better in a midfield 3... you coud very well improve that midfield by including someone like marchisio for example... who doesnt shy away from possesion, and has some tackling and great passing.

Yeh, we can say that this is what we have and we have to use him... but thats not an excuse to just keep dependiing on him. This excuse could be accepted in his first season here, but this is his 3rd and allegri still depends on him.

We can continue using him. But as long as he is an undisputed starter for us, there will always be a margin to improve

One tactical thing about the 2 man mid. Matuidi is better but we have a problem on the right side. Pjanic has to play on the right with Matuidi. Our right side doesnt have much production from the defenders like our left side does. Someone has to get forward into that space. Dybala leans that was a lot which helps but Pjanic doesnt need to push forward. So what do we do there? We can all say Marchisio is better but he hasnt played enough for us to trump Maxs decision on him. He also isnt any more mobile than Khedira or good at tackling. He wastes so many chances with horrible shots as well. I love him but really he needs to be vice Pjanic and just distribute. Pjanic is really good at reading when Dybala is in that space or when he drops deep or is in the center and thats when he pushes pretty hard. Clearly hes told to play off Dybalas space and let Dybala have the freedom

My problem with Khedira isn’t just his speed. Busquets is slow, Pjanic isn’t that fast either. But those guys have a very fast footballing brain and are half a second ahead of everyone else. Khedira takes 2 touches just to get the ball under control and then usually passes it to the player next to him. He doesn’t offer much physicality or technical ability. At the highest level, he’s a passenger.

I’ve been a huge advocate of activating Torreira’s 25M release clause this winter, but it doesn’t look like that’s happening.

Was just saying it that way to prevent some nitpickers to deviate my post with stupid comments.

But IMO marchisio was the most balanced from all, hence the most safety choice. He didnt had the passes of pirlo, the stamina or grinta of vidal, or the physicality and natural talent of pogbs... but he kept things very simple and was so reliable, that he gave a lot of balance to the midfield. And by pirlos last season, he was indeed much better than the bearded maestro.

His passing on midfield alone makes him way more worth than khedira. Its a shame he sems to be not ready for full games, because theres no other explanation as to why khedira is starting over him, other than pure bias.

This is why we need to learn to keep our best players. Had we kept Vidal and Pogba, I think we would have beaten Real in the final. Just imagine if we had them two on the centre today? Our team would have been complete. But you can't have the best team, when you keep having to get rid of one of your prized players.

Well i would take Xavi and Scholes off that list. They were supreme passers. Verratti too. But Makele is surprise. Didn't know he was so short.
