Yep is his fault we missed all our clear chances lol...

Not that he impressed me or something but there’s just no solid #scapegoat material on this occasion... was defensively solid for most part, no fancy stuff just a 32year old Khedira doing his job., so in reality he mostly did ok in terms of his role last night and had little to do with us repeteadly bottling it in front of goal tbh.

What do you guys think is the issue with him. He is slow, but he has always been slow. Maybe he's won a World Cup, CL title, enough league titles, bagged a very sexy wife and made enough money that he is just lacking motivation to really work hard and be a top level player anymore.

Not everyone is a Buffon (someone who still wants to be the absolute best into their late 30s regardless of an already glorious career) maybe Sami just has other interests then football and is looking to collect paycheks for a few more seasons then retire. The mentality of a champion doesn't come naturally to everyone.

He has had a few injuries I guess but he's definitely not the same player as he was in Madrid. Might be that Juve is his retirement plan. A few relaxed years before cruising in MLS.

Cant say he didnt play well last season, he was a key for us at times. This srason he shoud be warming the bench though. Evem in a 3 man midfield he isnt good enough to start. But at 32 yrs of agr i would have thought he is a good experienced player to bring on when you him in later stages of games. Starting against the top team...well that eould be crazy wouldnt it allegri?

Like someone said in the inter thread, the problem with sami is that he goes MIA in our build up. Almost it seems he doesnt want the ball in the midfield, and he just wants to do runs in thr enemy area for a final ball to come and score. Thats it.

In a midfield which we have pjanic creating and risking every ball for the sake of putting a clear cut pass or an assist... we need someone to take the mantle of defender and cover him, that someone also needs to have a wide array of passes for pjanic to not carry the burden alone... and that player shoukd be physically strong enough to pull it.

Khedira doesnt match in any of this traits, so obviously he doesnt work in a midfield of 2. In a midfield of 3 he would work, but it doesnt mean he is any good for it either, since he will be carried by the other 2 anyways.

In summary, he is way too average for us.

I was reading old articles and was reminded that Khedira was part of the midfield 2 of RM with Xabi Alonso and he was very successful at it. There's even an old quote of Barca's Xavi praising him as he is everywhere, intelligently plugging holes and with a turn and step finding himself in dangerous positions in the oppenents half. With age he has obviously lost some explosiveness, but with his physique and tactical intelligence I can see how Allegri still rates him. He is the only midfielder we have who is so good at vertical runs, alas his injuries and age have nulled his sharpness.

If that was Khedira from the past, then theres nothing left of it.

Or at the very least he is not compatible with our heavy pressing and build up style.

Tottenham :howler:

Sami is eating Dele Alli's for breakfast.
Sami got crunched by sampdoria.

Yes I hope by February, either he is in the reserves or playing MLS soccer

But that's being too hopeful I guess
If only

What will end up happening is that Sami will announce that he's married into the Allegri family, he's married Allegri's cousin and that he is in the form of his life. He'll start every game, and will remain on field for full 90mins. He will score braces and hattricks vs the likes of Cagliari and Bologna, only to indirectly assist Delle Ali and Ericksen for their hattricks.

People act like he wasnt a good player for us just last season in a really good campaign. He might be past it but he moves in and out of space really well and opens up lanes. He isnt an instigator though and might not be at the level we need but hes not a bad player by any means
