He had countless goalscoring opportunities this season and manage to miss 90% of them. I think even Chiellini would have done a better job with the opportunities that Sami had. If his finishing would have been at least half as good as his positioning he would have had double digit goals by now.

Yeah statistics don't do justice. In the early season after his good start he probably bottled a thousand sitters. But its not like its his job anyways: he's doing great now and I hope he keeps going. Puts a healthy selection problem in midfield which we haven't had in a while. Khedira looked like our worst midfielder for a large chunk of the season prior to 4-2-3-1.

what is suprising is that he has gone injury free for so long, despite our medical teams best efforts :radek:

He wasn't really in good shape earlier in the season, in fact I'd say he's still not near his best level. Wouldn't even surprise me to hear some months down the line that he has been playing with a small injury, just like Mandzukic last year with those months below par.

Seen enough of him last year when he finished several chances in a striker's fashion. He averages about 1 shot per game so I don't know how he manages to miss lots of chances.

Why ?

I guess I'm just pleasantly surprised that the new system has proved to be solid so far (helped by Mandzukic and Cuadrado tracking back). On the face of it Pjanic and Khedira don't seem like a combo to act as protection for the team, given how easily the midfield 3 had been overrun in other games this season.

You're right though we shouldn't be surprised by his ability to play the role as he has done well in similar ones for other teams.
