Either not fit or not interested. I'm always wary about slagging off players who seem to get into spells which look like the latter, because it tends to be the former. He's started a lot of games and come off the international break, but he also sat out Udinese, so he shouldn't be looking like he did in the first half especially. He was running like his laces were tied together.

He was poor before the international break but thought he was fine today.
How so ? No contribution at all.

And to make matters worse, he was jogging when we were down to 10 men.

Khedira maybe a smart player, but he's too slow, don't have a great passing vision, don't contribute defensively, slows down the play too much each time... I don't like him with Pjanic in the same lineup in the CL.

He was pretty much average today.

I don't agree that he is too slow, he's not quick but wouldn't say he is overly slow, he absolutely contributes defensively his reading of the game and getting himself in the correct position is superb, he also usually finds space when going forward which if anything speeds up play. Our record when he plays speaks for itself, I think he makes us a better team but I would agree his form was bad before the Internationals.

Khedira's worst match of the season. Was not involved at all, didn't make good runs forward, and seemed to be playing a different match from his teammates on the pitch. Even managed to block what would have been a goal for us.

All the same. World class.

One bad game. Nothing more to read. Sadly Pjanic and Lemina had miserable games too. It rarely happens that all three midfielders don't perform at the same time. Can't wait to have Claudio back.

I think Max asked him to tone down the forward runs to provide more cover for Pjanic, so he lost that part of his game. He's ok as a static midfielder, but better as box to box. Either way, he should use his physique more. He's built like a tank but still gets overrun easily. It's like having a 1.90m Pjanic next to normal Pjanic.

Our most important mids are so inconsistent.
This, so much. Pjanic, I can understand. Most creative players deal with it and find it hard to maintain the same level for the whole game, especially if they're pressed a lot. But Khedira has to be reliable, we can't afford the luxury to have another one of our midfielders (not even a creative one) disappear during matches. This is the biggest thing we're missing from Vidal since he left. Imagine Khedira on a bad day playing next to Pirlo as regista in his last season with us. He's still a ball winning midfielder. Can't call him box-to-box just because he makes some runs in the box, he's not a great passer nor shooter either. And as a ball winning midfielder, he simply has to deliver most of the time. It's what I like about Sturaro. Sure he's not fancy and stuff but he's always at 100%, and that's what matters as a classic midfielder that isn't supposed to be a playmaker, regista, trequartista or the like. Having Marchisio back will help, but unless Sami finds some consistency we'll still have an unbalanced midfield.

tldr: Creative midfielders can go ghosting around from time to time cause that's their trade-off. The players covering them absolutely cannot do it too.
