How did my lions did yesterday? Since they didn't win I'm guessing that the referee was against them, as always.

Poor France. If they only had the refs on their side, at least from time to time.
But they're not cheating Italians so no fake goals or fake penalties, unfortunately.
They fought like lions, but their complete lack of quality or anything that comes remotely close to what one could, in the broadest of terms, call skill killed them in the end.

I kind of felt sorry for them.

They sure did but I gotta say Govou starting the match and playing for 85 minutes while missing that setter was just hilarious really

Last night's match was one of the most boring matches I've ever seen, might well have been the most boring match of this WC. France will be lucky to get into the 2nd round if they don't step up their game ALOT.

I don't care if they've been bringing artists, fact is, there are teams like Inter who do not have one single player from Milan, how do they represent Milan?
Do Juve represent Torino?

How many players do they have that originate from Torino?
 fred you are usually pretty good with your knowledge but you could not have picked 2 worse teams there,Inter were formed simply because they wanted to allow players from outside of Milan and Italy while Juventus deliberately do not have Torino in the name so that their appeal is not limited to one city

Roma,Milan,Livorno, etc always have a "symbol" of the club within their ranks whether that is a Baresi,Maldini,Totti,De Rossi, etc

as for France, what stuck out for me is that they lack a leader on the pitch,Evra is a terrific player but he is not captain material. the only man in the French team that tried to grab the game by the scruff of the neck was Diaby who played like a young Vieira.
France have problems here,Goufcuff was pretty anonomous, Domenech handicapped the side by leaving Malouda out for personal reasons(seriously how old is Domenech?) and Anelka is never a lone forward, every time he got the ball he held on to it for too long. if they are lucky enough to get through the group they will crash out meekly

but taht top is sweeeeeeeeet

and as i said in the other thread, sometimes Domenech makes peculiar decisions but you have to wonder why he insists on playing a lone frontman yet he left BEnzema at home as he is the only Frenchie capable of playing taht role at this level.
Henry and Anelka both rely on a CF partner to allow them the space to move, neither are suited to these tactics
