remember vasile milea, former minister of defense during the romanian revolution? i wouldn't be surprised if shoigu had a similar fate.
In my country streets are named after him.
He committed suicide which practically made the army side with the revolution.
It is speculated that he tried only to injure himself to be relieved of duty.

Vasile Milea (1 January 1927 – 22 December 1989) was a Romanian politician and military general who was Nicolae Ceaușescu's Minister of Defence during the Romanian Revolution of 1989 and was involved in the reprisal phase of the Revolution that caused the deaths of 162 people.
They took lessons from the commies, we have cities, regions, streets that are named after soviet murderers

He is considered a national hero. When asked by the then dictator why didn't he brutally squashed the revolution at the start of it at Timișoara, he said "Because he didn't give them any ammunition"(he ordered them to not load there weapons) .
But it seems that you are right. Aparently the prosecutor(who is still prosecuting the revolution file, said back in December 2021 that the general is direct responsible, was on field commander in those nights, for the intervention against the revolution in the night of 21-22, in Bucharest.)
So it isn't such a national hero after all or it could be "blame the dead guy theory", as even now we don't have someone to blame for those 3000 deaths, that happened 33 years ago, except the dictator.
The all thing is blurry.

Hungary still does not allow military transports to pass through its airspace. Is it definitely part of NATO?
