Legendary Brazilian hamburger monster Ronaldo has reached new heights – or perhaps widths – of greatness, The Sun’s exclusive image reveals…

Some may have been hoping to see a more streamlined El Fenomeno, working hard on the training track with the aim of making a speedy recovery from his latest knee problem.

The 31-year-old, who steered the Selecao to their fifth World Cup in 2002, has been out of action since rupturing ligaments in his left knee while playing for AC Milan in February.

But snaps taken of the ex-Real Madrid striker during his holiday in Ibiza suggest he has been hitting the nightclubs and restaurants of the Mediterranean rather than the gym.

Ronaldo is the quintessential wayward Brazilian, a forerunner to compatriots Ronaldinho and Adriano – incendiary talents all who have been unable to control their urges off the pitch.

The former Barcelona and Internazionale man has always bounced back before, but at his age and in the condition he is in – well, even the most die-hard fan would have to concede that his time among Europe’s elite has well and truly passed.

Why should we respect those players when they can't even respect themselves? That is no way for professional athletes to treat their bodies...

That's no argument. His chosen profession is a football player. If he wishes to continue playing at a high level, he needs to eat, train, and live accordingly. That is what athletes need to do. It is their job - they need to be in peak condition.

Accountants need to be good with math and balance sheets, doctors need to know how to diagnose and treat illness, lawyers need to understand the law, etc. Fitness is what athletes need to perform. If they don't keep fit, well...you end up with fat Ronaldos and Ronaldinhos who struggle for form. I'm not saying I don't respect them, they have had marvelous careers and that can never be erased. But both can't expect to reach those past levels in their current physical condition.

Ronaldo treated his body just fine for over 20 years. Now you go ahead and try to do that.
1. he like all athletes are paid to maintain their physical demeanor and fitness in order to perform

2. i doubt anyone told him to stop treating his body good

he is still el fenomeno, but now only when it comes to a hamburger eating contest
