I don't disagree, but we haven't seen Prime Bentancur yet. Let's just wait and see. All this talk of prime is making me hungry - I want a steak, but it's 8 am.

No they are not similar, but I think that Bentancur has the potential to play both roles.

Essien was an all-action box to box midfielder with unlimited energy. I could see Bentancur evolve into that role.

Xabi Alonso was a brilliant regista with a great passing range and he could put in a tackle. I could see Bentancur evolve into this too.

Gerrard was one of the best attacking midfielders of the last 20 years and scored 15 goals per season. I can’t see Bentancur becoming like Gerrard. He doesn’t have the goalscoring instinct.
