Van Persie is perhaps the best forward of all the forwards we're linked with. Potentially the worst transfer, though. His age isn't a big problem, his ankle injury is.

If we can have him for some 30 of the 38 matches in the league and for most of the CL matches, then....wow.

So, looks like there might be something in this Rip van Rapist rumour.

My thoughts are the same as Alen's, basically. Well, on this subject at least.

So this guy has broken a toe (was stepped on), his fifth metatarsal (while celebrating), hurt his knee, and had his ankle crushed by Chiello...

Hmmm. Anything else? Seems like he's been mostly unlucky. Does he have a history of muscle issues?

:D

Yeah, the other day I was scanning through some articles, wiki, etc., trying to figure out if he's just been unlucky with all of these injuries, or actually hadn't been properly taking care of himself, and I found that little gem on Wiki.

I don't remember it though. They also didn't mention the Chiello ankle crush on the wiki, at least I didn't see it while I was scanning, so that's why I'm wondering if there was anything else with RVP, any sort of chronic or degenerative issues.

I'm not quite convinced he's as big an injury risk as some suggest, although based on the time he's missed I understand why he has that label.

Edit: the link I posted was garbage, so I removed it. But yeah, BBC article

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/a/arsenal/6285363.stm says while celebrating, another link says he broke it trying to get around Neville and played through it (which makes a bit more sense).
